T3 facts and how it works

T3 (Cytomel) is a synthetic thyroid hormone that has been around for many years and is prescribed to those whose thyroid does not produce enough thyroid hormones. When your thyroid doesn't produce enough hormones, your metabolism suffers and creates a cascading effect, which can cause weight gain, energy loss, hair loss, and skin problems. Doctors can easily identify a sluggish thyroid and put the patient on synthetic T3 for life.

T3 affects the basal metabolic rate through stimulation. It’s involved in the metabolism of carbs, fats, and proteins. Those who do not produce enough T3 are considered to have hypothyroidism and will gain fat very easily.

Synthetic T3 vs Natural Alternatives

Bodybuilders are quick to begin taking T3 when they’re competing, because it burns fat a lot quicker than almost any other drug known to man and it stacks well with any steroid. But those who abuse T3 may damage their thyroid and end up having to stay on synthetic T3 for life, which is a major mistake. Their belief is that they can no longer have a proper functioning thyroid (underactive) because of the drug use and are scared to gain a lot of body fat. So, they would rather choose the drug route.

T3 is incredibly effective at burning fat and can be stacked along with your steroids for even better results. However, you always run the risk of shutting down your thyroid and becoming dependent on synthetic T3. The better option would be to just boost your own natural production to optimal levels so that you can burn body fat quickly and naturally, without shutting yourself down in the process by using synthetic drugs.

What causes thyroid problems?

Many bodybuilders have underactive thyroids because of T3/Cytomel abuse. They run it too much and too often, and they don’t know how to run a post-cycle therapy (PCT) afterward. Yes, you SHOULD DO PCT after running T3!

What’s worse is that a lot of amateur guys are using Cytomel when they really don’t need to take synthetic T3 at all. They could get even better results by using natural ingredients to boost the output of natural T3 from their own thyroid. So, you shouldn’t need to take exogenous T3 at all to burn fat. You could just boost the production of your own and get even better results.

T3 dangers and side effects

First off, it’s true that if you start using T3, you will possibly become dependent on it for life. This isn't something to take lightly.

I attempted to buy each ingredient separately at my local health food store, and the bill before taxes exceeded $259.99. Here’s a list of each ingredient per serving and what they do:

Vitamin B12 100mcg: People are under the incorrect assumption that if their diets include lots of meat that they won't have B12 deficiencies. This falsehood is pushed on us by the meat industry, and those who eat plenty of meat can still be deficient. The bottom line is if your B12 is low, your thyroid will not function normally and you’ll have a very hard time burning fat!

Iodine 150mcg: An essential mineral that also turbocharges our thyroid into action. Many of us are way deficient in Iodine as well.

Magnesium 200mcg, Zinc 6mg, Selenium 200mcg, Manganese 2mg, Molybdenum 50mcg: These minerals might not be the sexiest names, but they’re all super important for a healthy functioning thyroid.

L-Tyrosine 300mg: This amino acid sends a message to the body to increase thyroid output. It’s similar to a building turning on the lights every morning so people can work.

Schisandra Powder 240mg: This ingredient helps keep cortisol down. Cortisol is a big enemy that leads to fatigue and fat gain. People do not realize that cortisol spikes due to stress; not just at work or at home, but also in the gym. When this spike occurs, the body goes into fat storage mode, which means all of your hard work goes to waste.

If you were using T3 (Cytomel) and want to come off, you should take T-3 PCT for half the time you were on. An example is if you ran T3 for 12 weeks; you should then use T-3 PCT for 6 weeks. This process will prevent fat gain rebound and help your thyroid recover properly.

For those who have never run T3 at all, you can use T-3 PCT for 12-week solo cycles. It works great at stimulating your thyroid WITHOUT shutting it down and risking permanent problems. The dosage of T-3 PCT is 2 capsules a day, and each bottle will last you 1 month. But you can take as much as 4 capsules per day if you want even better results.
