Ins and Outs of Moneygram?

Im well versed in the bullshit WU gives but wanted to know about moneygram. Called them on the phone to get info and looks like its just like WU except for a red phone, so I wanted to know what are the issues with moneygram? Similar with WU or no?

Money gram once flagged a 1000$ payment I sent to a friend and it took us almost 6 weeks to get the funds released.

However that's the only issue I have had with them. Their fees are cheaper and there are more locations for MG. I actually like it more the WU.

how often do you use

At the time it flagged me I was using it twice a week for about 3 weeks. I was sending money for a friend who didn't have a bank account. It's the only trouble I ever had. We got the money back but it was a friggin hassle from hell!

The fees are cheaper and the locations are more plentiful. Honestly I don't think you guys should give up on WU totally.....just give em a break and then add em back later.

Cash seems the safest way and I don't think it will be long before you start hearing of sources going that route. Whats worse, someone along the line gets sticky fingers, at the post office or wu keeping your money for weeks.

You would think that the small fortune they make off of each transaction would be enough to have them look the other way. This is America and that is our way. Justice department must be leaning on them hard.

I want to do cash in mail and be done with it but gotta give moneygram a shot first.

Faster, easier, no talking to people on the phone at WU that barely speak English, fill out a form, hand it to customer service rep and that's that.

Probably took 5 minutes from start to finish

Robo just picked up the first moneygram and said it was smooth as fuck. Hopefully all go that way

The Problem is, anything of $1,000 or more, Sets off Red Flags at all these places since 9/11.
If you need to send a Large Amount, you need to break-it down into smaller Amounts..........................................JP
P.S.
So if you wanted to send $1,000, Instead send two for $500.
You'll see that a lot of the Sites will tell you this !

I support the move. WU sucks. MG isn't the best, but better. Good luck Robo :)
I must Agree, I have Accounts at Both Places, and WU, drives me out of my mind, I wanted to Reach through the Phone, and Shake this one Dude.
I go to MG, and yes English is a Second Language for most of these Joints, but they always get my Money where it needs to go............................JP
P.S.
I don't really Hear the Accents anymore, I grew up Listening to Accents all Day.

Me too JP...used to have to translate for people to understand my Dad a lot of times growing up cause his accent is pretty thick, lol

Plus Turkish has some language quirks that they still get wrong even after 40 years when switching it to English, like there is only one word, O, in Turkish for he/she/it and its inferred based on what you are talking about. He and my Aunt still will interchange he/she/it in English, then stop and correct themselves usually, lol...im like its been almost 40 years and u still get it wrong?? Lmao!

They always give me shit for my Turkish accent tho...haha

Greendot is a problem if youre a source because its designed just for big retail stores to receive money. So you cant do it if youre a source

Yea I see that now. At first I just seen how easy it seemed on the other side. MG is still better than WU.

Positive to WU is visual verification of sender/receiver prior to sealing the transaction...

Moneygram is kind of a headache spelling out everything letter by letter to a call center in the Philippines...even though my experience has been mistake free...I don't like hanging up the phone and hoping they got it right by the time it's paid for.

Moneygram is better than WU cuz you don't have to talk to some dude from China/India that gets the receivers name wrong every damn time!
Greendot moneypak is the way to go! Ya buy a five dollar card, put your funds on it and give the receiver the money! .... Although I believe greendot has security issues of some sort!

One think I found about WU is that if you have a source that will accept WU transfers made online, it seems to work pretty well. I've made multiple transfers >$1000 online and never had a problem. However, I've only found a couple of sources that will accept WU online transfers, and one of them turned out to be a scammer.
