D-Aspartic Acid - Usage and Benefits

Introduction

D-Aspartic Acid is commonly known simply as 'DAA' in the bodybuilding world and has grown in popularity thanks to its cheap price, ease of access, and its effective results. Quite simply, it is an endogenous amino acid, meaning it can be made by the body or acquired from supplementation or food.

There are two forms of amino acids called L and D.  They are found in the nervous and endocrine system of humans and other animals.

D-Aspartic Acid Structure

I can't tell you how many people have told me over the years that their friends or mothers have told them not to use D-Aspartic Acid because it is a steroid.  I always have to educate people that even though D-Aspartic Acid sounds super scary, it is just a natural organic molecule our body naturally produces and that is found in food. It is in no way a hormone or steroid.  Structurally, they contain an amino and carboxyl group, while a steroid has four rings specifically configured.

Discovery and research

You may not know this but D-Aspartic Acid was first researched from the nervous systems of oysters.  Just like in certain animals, it plays an important role in the human neuroendocrine system and development of brain and nerve cells.

Pituitary glands in males produce the necessary hormones to stimulate our Leydig cells into producing the male hormone testosterone.  Early human and rodent research showed that D-Aspartic Acid caused the release of LH (luteinizing hormone) and testosterone.   This causes a domino effect of improved protein synthesis in the body, thus helping athletes and normal joes alike, grow more muscle and get stronger.

Use in Fitness

If having healthy levels of D-Aspartic Acid boosts testosterone naturally in the body, then obviously we know this is good for fitness.  The research has shown that men who had poor levels of testosterone who took D-Aspartic Acid had a rise in hormones.  This means that taking this supplement would make a lot of sense year-round for those struggling with poor levels of testosterone.

I've been writing about the perfect PCT stack for a while, and it seems a lot of guys still have questions about the way to run the right kind of PCT. The perfect PCT is not just an idea or concept or a medical study, it's something you have to develop with countless years of trial and error. I have written thousands of PCT regiments over the last 20+ years in the industry, and I can safely say that PCT is tricky at best. Read more ...

Those who use anabolic steroids can use D-Aspartic Acid during their post cycle therapy when testosterone levels start crashing as the steroid esters are leaving the body.  This is the perfect time to use it to help the person keep more gains, stay motivated, feel good, and keep their libido strong while their body is under stress.  It also makes a lot of sense to use it during bridging between steroid cycles, to keep testosterone levels strong and hold gains naturally.

Studies

Let's take a look at a few studies done on D-Aspartic Acid to see what they did for users:

A study done on men in their late 20's and 30's was conducted for 2 weeks.  During that short amount of time, 85% of the men had a rise in testosterone levels, with an average of 40% increase.

A study done on obese men for 1 month, showed most had an increase of over 20%.  This is really good evidence that it won't take long to see positive benefits.

The last study I will tell you about went for 3 months to see what would happen to healthy young men who used it.  The results were very positive and showed a rise from 25-50% in Testosterone levels.

Will I get fat taking it?

Some people spread broscience that using D-Aspartic Acid makes them bloated or fatThis myth probably comes from those using products laced with fillers, sweeteners, and other garbage ingredients that will cause anyone to bloat up. Also, we see a lot of people making proprietary blended supplements which don't list each ingredient, so you don't really know how much of what you are getting. This is why it is important to always check the labels and ingredients when purchasing any supplement, to make sure you are getting a good product.

Fertility

Researchers haven't yet found enough convincing evidence that using D-Aspartic Acid will boost sperm count or motility.  However, if it is improving hormones being fed into our Leydig cells naturally then in my humble opinion it can definitely help improve the situation.  The bottom line is that it is a safe option to use for this purpose with no downside, rather than using fertility drugs that are not approved for men.

D-Aspartic Acid Calcium Chelate, also called DAACC for short, is an amino acid that has been proven to raise testosterone and LH levels in men. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein in the body, and play an important role in almost every biological process; such as, transport and storage of nutrients and cells structure formation. Best ways to get it

As already mentioned, you can get plenty of D-Aspartic Acid from both your own body making it and from food or supplementation.  The best ways to get it with the 2nd option are:

    • Supplements that contain D-Aspartic Acid: Look for it in the ingredients of testosterone boosters or as a stand-alone.
    • Dairy products: Although we don't recommend consuming very much dairy in your diet, those foods do have good amounts.
    • Eggs: Make sure you are buying humane friendly eggs which are most nutritious.
    • Meat products: Things like beef or chicken have good amounts.

Side effects

The nice thing about D-Aspartic Acid is anyone can use it, Men, women, fat, skinny, young, or old.  It is completely natural and safe to use.  Just make sure you do not exceed 3g per day for male or 2g per day for females.

The supplement industry is full of products that hide their ingredients to conceal how pathetic they are. Others are truthful about what's in them but they only contain 1 or 2 decent ingredients, with the rest just fluff to fill out the label. They then slap some juiced up meathead on the cover who is paid to tell you how good it is, then they jack up the price 10X what it is really worth. Read More..

Where to buy

D-Aspartic Acid is available legally at any retail or online store that sells bodybuilding supplements.  However, we highly recommend for best results using it as part of a comprehensive supplement stack.  You should consider buying an all in 1 formula such as Cardazol, which contains 800mg per serving of D-Aspartic Acid, along with more than two dozen additional ingredients.
