German Volume Training

Has anyone ever done the German Volume Training? I'm about half way thru my cycle and I want to implement the GVT for 2-4 weeks. I've been doing a 6 day a week each body part twice a week and I want to change it up.

Any tips or good routines for this? I would like to go 5-6 days a week.

Gvt is great. Since you're in the prime of you're cycle I would highly suggest 3-4 weeks of it for sure. Make sure when you hit rounds 8-10 you are failing before hitting 10 reps. Rack the weight. Count to 15 and repeat until you finish the reps for that set. Best results that way. Keep rest Between sets to 60-90 seconds max

Here's a good article on it.

My tip for it is make sure you start with the major lifts for this training. Bench, squat, deads and military press

The ****** is "body building . Com" (all put together of course)

I have tried the GVT before, but sincerely did not like it all that much - HIT is my favorite at the moment. Very economical in terms of time, and yet very effective. The only problem is that you need a good partner for it.

What didn't you like?

gvt and volume are both great tools imo. i only do one exercise for got like squats and then volume train/compound set the shit out of it that muscle group for the rest of the session. had a few good pukes doing this. super worth it haha

Yes, GVT is awesome, Although what I like to do is start at a weight I fail at for the 10-12 rep max then lower it at the 5th set, after I lower it the first time and cant rep out 10 any more I'll just do extremely slow negatives and my partner lifts it back up, I have found negatives to be my favorite trick to put your muscles past failure

I've tried it numerous times, have done variations of GVT, but the volume just does not work for me. I lose total feel of the movement by set 7 or 8, the rest is just CNS burnout.

To make things worse Poliquin had guys training everything every 5 days on it. I tried it just once a week and still could not recover.

But it may work wonders fro you.

I have made my own variation where I do Chest and Rows, Shoulders and Lats, Arms, Legs and Trap, then repeat and take 1-2 days off a week wherever needed. It's not so much difficult it's just different, because I will do 3 supersets of a 10x10, so each superset takes 20-30 minutes and that is the part that sucks. Also I'm not really feeling to much muscle overload just a light pump. I'm thinking about maybe tweaking the workout where I'm doing 1-2 supersets of a 10x10 then do regular volume training like 5x15 for a greater range of exercises and really push hard.

What I'm doing now, though - the volume is there I just don't know if the muscle overload is enough to get any quality gains. Usually when I leave the gym I have a serious pump, muscle fatigue, and soreness the next day. With the GVT I am doing not really experiencing that.

What's the best way to do GVT to get serious gains?

first take less rest time between sets.

second if you're only feeling a light pump you're not using enough weight. you should be using around 70-80% of 1rm. by the 7-8 set you should be failing and having to rack weight. wait a few seconds and do 1 rep, rack, 1 rep, rack....... until set is complete. thats true gvt.

honestly if you're doing any type of workouts you should always be failing by the last set. that is true working out form imo

i don't think you're getting the right nutrition or proper sleep in if this is the case for you. steroids only help you with recovery. but the difference is you're fuelling a ferrari not a pontiac. if you don't intake the right fuel the car isn't going to drive properly

I was eating, living and breathing this lifestyle when I tried GVT. Volume, in any way is not productive for me.
