Has anyone had this series of shots done for joint pain. Went to doctor and said if knee isn't better in a month they are gonna try this. Just wondering if it has helped anyone on here. Cortisone did nothing and have had four surgeries since last April and still have chronic pain. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

This Procedure has been around a couple of years. I talked to my Rheumatologist, about this, but they don't do it for Hips, only the Knee. Her husband is an Orthopedic Surgeon and does these shots for his patients. Are you getting the Synvisc or the Hyalgan, I do know that sometimes it takes two rounds of injections for relief. It's called "Viscosupplementation", in which Hyaluronic Acid derived from the Chicken Comb is injected into the Knee. It acts like a shock-absorber. I wish you luck and hopefully this procedure will give you relief................................JP

What about tb500?
TB-500, I personally think is remarkable, and I use it for my "Deg Hip Disease", but, cartech has already had surgery on the Knee and It won't repair a Torn Meniscus, or something along those line's, and it won't replace the Synovial fluid in the Knee, which is what the Chicken Comb is supposed to do. It will help with some Bone Pain and an Inflammed Ligament or Tendon, but if the damage is too severe, then something else may be needed. It's also great for Tendonitis, where it's a Nagging or Chronic Injury, but not yet Acute.
If you try a search on this board, I posted on all the benefits of TB-500, and the outcome of a study that was done. It will give you all the info you need..............JP

Hey jp sorry for delay spoke with os and we are gonna try it is the synvisc three shot version I also asked him about hips and he said that the university by where I live have been doing studies on it with some success he is the sports os for them

I've had a couple rounds of synvisc in both knees and like the results. They say you should get 6 months out of the treatment but I've ran a year between treatments with success. I am looking into other methods like the TB-500 and hoping to self treat.
Let us know how it goes...

add, chondroitin and msm, you'll see a difference
You gotta watch that Chondroitin if your over 40 years old.

It's not good for your Prostate, can cause problems.

Extremely bad for Cancer Patients or Former Cancer Patients...........................................................JP

There also doing some studies at University of Penn, where I go for Injections.

What I'm really waiting for is "Stem Cell Injections", for the Hip.

There's a place down south that does it, though it's not covered by Insurance yet. Takes's 2 rounds, and cost about $10,000 for both rounds.

I'm hoping in about 5 years that Insurance will cover the Procedure.............................................JP

P.S.
I wish you all the best with the Synvisc Injections.

I hope they do end up covering the procedure for you brother.. Although the way healthcare is going in this country I wouldn't get my hopes up too high. It's a disgrace how things are going, and Obamacare is only making things worse. I do hope you get access to the treatment bro, everyone deserves relief.

I'm waiting for the VA to cover it.

My local VA works very closely with the U. of P.

A few of my Doctor's are Professor's from the U. of P.

I've got them looking into a Research Project for the Stem Cells.

U. of P. likes the VA - they get lots of Guinea Pigs from there, myself included.

I've done some Bone Studies with University of Maryland, there's always a study into one thing or another..................................JP

Always nice to hear the va is trying to be cutting edge. Wish they would train dr s on decent trt doses.

The biggest problem with the VA, is they're only as good as the Hospital's that they're Affiliated with.

University of Pennsylvania Hospital (HUP, and CHOP) and Pennsylvania Hospital, are just a few that are Affiliate's.

I'm extremely lucky that my VA is across the street from the U.of P.

I see Veteran's from 3 States away come to my VA, because it's the only one that has the Treatment that they need.

It is a damn shame that the care is so "Helter Skelter", within the System.

If any of you guys are Vet's, there's a Rating System for all VA Hospital's in the System, you can view it online................ JP

I know nothing about this subject but I wish you the best of luck in getting your knee fixed.
