just wondering how important flexibility acctualy is to all of you guys/gals. im in good shape and strong but im not flexible worth :shit: it hurts to touch my toes even with my knees bent a little its pretty bad... how about you guys/gals???

i wish i was more flexible. i don think iv stretched since high school wrestling prectice lol

I stretch a little, but some people are just naturally flexible. I remember some 300 pound offensive tackle (he got a scholarship) back in HS could do the splits and put his elbows on the ground w/o bending his knees. He was just lucky.

damn... if i even tried the splitz i would probably have to be caried out of the gym.

Definitely helps the strippers at the club I work for. Otherwise, never saw any practical use for a level of flexibility that far exceeds being able to touch your ankles. I can touch my toes, but it doesn't make running any easier than the act of stretching itself does.

I stretch every muscle before I lift no matter what. It gets the blood flowing, releases endorphins, and prevents injury. Lets just say that both men and women look at me like a freak of nature when stretching. I wasn't born that way, It's like lifting, the more you push yourself the better the results. I don't think it is essential but I feel it is just as important to "MY" health and well being as lifting and cardio.

My number one reason to stretch even my abs.

I like to consider myself an athlete so stretching is very important to me. As I get bigger I'd like to stay lean and flexible. Plus stretching helps prevent injury and I try to take as many steps to prevent injury as possible.

maybe il start stretching then...

And.. can make sex more interesting if you are both strong and flexible

just saying. :innocent:

What she said...

But really it's all about the sex. I mean injuries. Not sexual ones...where was I going with this? Oh, yes, it helps keep you from getting injured. The simple truth. I've taken some yoga over the years and it really does help with back pain. What I found through stretching is that a lot of that pain is from tight glutes and hams. I stretch all the time. I get a lot of looks and comments too but...hey well.

I definitely wish I were more flexible, it's not something I lose sleep over and work at but in the back of my mind I still think about it...

Flexibility is absolutley huge for me. I can reach a full hand past my toes on sit and reach. Standing and touching my toes i put my palms on the floor. If i wasnt flexible I couldnt tie you up with a triangle choke and put you to sleep. Or catch a submission from an ackward position. Flexibility is life or death for me in my 2 favorite sports. Grappling and MMA.

Ilove football too but its not easy to just go play with a group of people, but I would if I could:batman:

I'm not flexible at all too. It's better to be flexible, but the only thing I think it helps you with is running fast.

Missed this it helps with a ton in life. Flexibility is very big in my opinion.

From keeping you injury free. To performing better at most things

Man you GOTTA stretch. I've pulled my glutes, groin, calves, and quads pretty badly for neglecting my stretches in cold weather. Newb mistakes. I've also developed tendinitis in my biceps tendons. Not fun. Always stretch and warm-up. Cool-downs are something I never took so seriously though, I just stretch the muscle out a little and do a weak set, which I actually enjoy because I like to feel my muscles acting like jell-o. Even when I'm doing HIIT burpees I do buttkicks between sets to keep them ready to go. Very satisfying :D
