I agree with you though, who really cares about a bf %? Even if you are competing it's not like the judges test that before someone can hop on stage. The mirror, pics and in some cases the scale tells me all I need to know.

If the margin of error is 15% in either direction
-accurate bf of 10% would give a caliper reading of anywhere from 8.5% to 11.5%...only 1.5% in either direction. I can live with that

Unless that you mean it could be off by a full 15 measures, in which case you are probably not doing it right.
