Creatine smell?

Have some creatine monohydrate on hand. It's new. When I open it the smell is bad? Like strange smell kind of sour.

Creatine indeed does have a bit sour smell, but if this smell is really strong I would be concerned. Was your creatine stored properly - away from high temperatures, direct sunlight and humidity?

Creatine should have a mild sour smell to it but it should not wreak like ammonia or anything like that.

Creatine monohydrate should have a neutral taste in water. If you mix the creatine in water and it tastes extremely acidic, your creatine as returned rancid. Throw it out. Creatine supplements are very cheap. It's not worth possibly getting sick.

The problem with bulk creatine powders is that even if a very small amount of water leaks into the container, it can cause bacteria to grow and make the product rancid. I like to use a capsulated creatine product like ancient strength from n2bm.com for that reason. It's also way easier to dose. No pills or scoops. Just 3 pills per day.

no reason to be using powdered creatine.. they contain fillers, sugars, and dyes.. you are paying for that extra crap and hurting yourself in the process.. makes no sense. instead switch to ancient strength tablet creatine from n2bm. it is pure creatine

If it is new as you said, just return it to the store and get a tablet version. I use the same one Steve mentions....Ancient Strength. Been using it for a while and really like it. The nice things is that I don't have to chug it in a bunch of liquid and then train with a full gut.
