I was watching a youtube vid by Thomas Maw and he was discussing Compression Shorts and how they improved his squats with size increase and strength results. I have seen no science on this and was wondering if this was a useful item or not. My training is going well and I'm getting constant gains but I do find my legs to be the hardest area to grow.

Thank for any info or opinions.

The only thing that comes to my mind, is that compression shorts can keep a better tone of the blood vesels, thus improving blood flow and muscle function. However, I think that even in such case the difference would be quite minimal.

Compression Shorts come in a couple different Materials.

Most likely Thomas Maw was talking about the "Neoprene Shorts" that the Powerlifters wear.
And not the ones made from Cotton and Spandex.............................................. JP
P.S.
The Shorts are Probably "Meet Short".

Lol compression tights..... hahahahaha not gonna catch me in a pair. Men do not ware tights lol.

Now compression sleeves under my shorts yes... those do help me squat more I have terrible knees. They keep me solid in the knee area.

from experience i find the compression gear is great. but only if you are prone to tears. when i tear a ham or groin i wear mine all the time. once healed i don't wear at all. find its better to let the body move naturally

Never touched compression gear then about 5-6 years back I injured my leg (torn ligaments, fracture, etc) and after I was mobile again and eventually able to get back into the gym, the doc recommended I try it out. It did help with keeping my joints warm and you do feel the support. Nowadays, I really only use compression sleeves on my knees when I'm squatting.

I use compression short and or pants/shirt for endurance training and leg day. As said, it helps in keeping the joints warm.
