You may have read about the spice Fenugreek, known for its numerous bodybuilding and health benefits. However, did you know that there’s a non-protein amino acid in tiny amounts that is found in Fenugreek seeds?  This compound is called 4-hydroxyisoleucine, and you’ll want to read this article to learn about why you should be using it for your bodybuilding goals.  Thanks to advancements over the past decade, we are now able to extract 4-hydroxyisoleucine in larger amounts to be used as a supplement.

Insulin production

Did you know that insulin is the most-anabolic hormone in the body?  As bodybuilders, when we eat food, we want that food to feed and power our muscles.  Thus, when food is consumed, insulin is released by a healthy pancreas, and that food is stored as mass.

Gaining fat is so easy

It seems like gaining fat has become so easy.  We can blame consuming too much food, too often.  Also, the myth that you can 'exercise away' fat has created a culture of over-eating and over-exercise, which has failed miserably.  As bodybuilders and weight lifters, we tend to eat a lot of food, which unfortunately has resulted in a sharp rise in the perma-bulker culture.  You know, those guys who walk around the gym with guts hanging out over their weightlifting belts.  The problem is that we need to eat to grow muscle, so this is where 4-hydroxyisoleucine can help us big time.

4-hydroxyisoleucine not only does what we talked about earlier, but it will respond stronger to a larger glucose rise.  It’s basically a “regulator” that will release insulin only when needed so we can grow, but stop insulin when it becomes too much where fat could be stored.  Simply put, it will balance our glucose and make it stable.  Now, you can eat like a bodybuilder without feeling guilty by using 4-hydroxyisoleucine before your largest meals.

*Bottom line is, 4-hydroxyisoleucine will keep you leaner and ripped, even while you’re bulking and consuming carbs.

Steroid users

Anabolic steroids (especially the more androgenic ones like Trenbolone, Testosterone, Dianabol, Anadrol, etc.) will cause a rise in insulin resistance and throw your insulin and glucose levels around like a roller coaster.  This is why you may notice that you feel carbohydrate cravings while on these steroids.  Many individuals will react to this phenomenon by consuming more food and thus gaining a lot of unwanted body fat.  You can walk around the gym and see how many guys carry over 15% body fat—it is most of the gym!  We want to be able to see our abs and our muscle cuts, right?

4-hydroxyisoleucine is a very smart thing to supplement while on a steroid cycle.  It will allow you to eat more carbs and protein, without it turning into globs of body fat.
