Bergenin is a compound that’s derived mostly from the Bergenia flowering plant species and contains a chemical compound called norbergenin. Originally used in eastern medicine to treat various illnesses, it’s mainly grown in Afghanistan, Tibet, Bhutan, and hilly regions of India. It is also found in other parts of the world, including the United States, as bushes in yards.

Since Bergenin has some amazing effects on insulin sensitivity, it’s being used by bodybuilders and athletes to better reach their fat-loss goals. In this profile, we’ll go over why you should be using it to help you get shredded and stay that way by modifying the way insulin treats the calories you eat.

Insulin and the calories you eat

To understand how Bergenin, works you must first understand how insulin works in your body and what role it plays in building muscle and gaining fat.

Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas that many have heard of before, but very few understand what it’s all about. Norbergenin and insulin resistance

It’s not just insulin levels, but also insulin resistance that one must be aware of. Some cells in your body can become resistant to this hormone, thus not responding to the insulin levels in your blood. For example, those who suffer from type 2 diabetes have become so insulin resistant that they must use drugs and/or more insulin to help reduce blood sugar, especially around mealtime.

Healthy bodybuilders and athletes, however, can use the power of Bergenin to create a modified insulin resistance. In this state, only your fat cells are resisting insulin, while your muscle cells remain quite reactive to the hormone. Thus, you create an internal environment where most of the calories you eat will be stored in the muscle cells, and not in your fatty tissue.

Bergenin blocks fat cells from storing calories

One of the ways to lose fat with Bergenin is to take it about 30 minutes before a meal. This schedule helps stop insulin from storing energy in our fat cells after meals. It does this by reducing insulin's ability to store carbohydrates in the fat cells, essentially blocking the ability to gain fat.

By no means does this mean you should go and eat pizza and donuts every day. But by sticking to good quality foods and using Bergenin before every meal, your body will be more apt to burn fat and build muscle, instead of just storing fat.
