Crypto purchase strategy

I'm new to crypto. I was curious what people's purchase strategy is when purchasing from naps gear with crypto. Do you purchase from a crypto exchange, then transfer the crypto from the exchange's wallet to a personal cold wallet, then use that cold wallet address? I've always used Zelle (dumb I know) but I figured it's past time I start using crypto

I use Coinbase and just transfer whatever I need for the purchase in and then use it. Super simple.

Purchase crypto, transfer to an off the exchange wallet like Exodus and then pay for your goods.
@richardVermel Zelle is NOT a good idea, what do you plan to cycle with btw?
