that shit goes down all the time. you shouldn't depend on safe mail too much for this reason.

every email service gets hacked on a daily basis, its what hackers do and how they make their living. saw on dateline how there are people who actually steal CC#'s and sell them right off chat rooms, it is pretty nuts

It's not LE. Safe-mail had claimed they were very secure then they get hacked and now experts claim they're as secure as G-mail. Hence the critical upgrade/

Site said at one point yesterday "within 2 days" or something along those lines. I should have invested in an alternative email provider back in the day to avoid this. Lesson learned.

it doesnt look like they are gonna be the same if they come back, they are talking about suspending alot of accounts that have been doin illegal business or something to that
extent. They are basically gonna try to make you pay .

So what's a good alternative to safe-mail to use.

Anonymousspeech or Sub Rosa. Both have servers outside of the USA AND EU jurisdiction. I would recommend Sub Rosa, because it's cheaper, you can pay with Bitcoin so they don't even know who you are and you can use Open PGP encryption AND all mail on their servers is also separately encrypted, so even if is IS hacked, they have TWO levels of encryption to crack.

Why EVERYONE doesn't use Open PGP both the suppliers and we customers, doesn't make any sense. You can use Outlook (if you are crazy enough to feel safe with Microsoft products) or Thunderbird and both support on the fly encryption and decryption. It isn't like it's difficult to use if you have an IQ above 70!

This is why I have a couple different email accounts. I've been thinking bout getting a counter mail acct, it's doesn't cost that much. Do they expect me to feel any safer about my email security if I'm having to pay for it? Is anything on the Internet ever really safe? I sure as hell don't have any emails with my CC# on it.
