Must be nice to have that option in the UK. I ask my doctor to write an Rx for Viagra which he did only to find out it was $560 for 9 pills. I told the Pharmacy you can put that back please.
I lol when people in canada or UK try and lecture me about healthcare.. I tell them come to the USA and see the bs we have to deal with.. even with a good job you still have 5-6K deductibles and copays.
it is a huge scam. 2 minutes with a doctor and he bills you 2K. absurd

I work for a major corporation and I pay in about $280 every 2 weeks which cover my wife and I. On top of that the company pays in about $740 every two weeks. So approximately 1020 every paycheck goes to the insurance company. That's approximately $24480 per calendar year and like you mentioned there's a max out of pocket deductible that has to be met which is $2000 for each of us. Then add in the rising copay prices, we are truly getting the shaft on Healthcare here in the US!!
Hey I cant speak for now because Ive been out of the US and back in Canada for about 20yrs now but the healthcare I had in Texas after a bad accident in 97 was primo compared to what Im dealing with here in Canada. I guess your premiums now are rediculous but so are my taxes here, just for info on this thread Im paying $60 (Cn) for 4 Viagra. Ive got a few stories from my time down there but nothing Ive had since compares to the treatment I got there.
The health care is still good, love in Texas also BTW. The thing is that the costs are just ridiculous now. You have to call ahead and make sure that you get Pre-approved for any procedure or you might get a bill for thousands of dollars if you don't and the insurance company refuses to pay.
Big Pharmaceutical companies keeping the prices up here in the States. It's a racket for sure...
