I am just starting to get into lifting and am looking for a good but affordable post-workout protein supplement. From what I have read it looks as though a protein isolate is what I am in need of but I am not sure. Any advice would be appreciated. I am currently stacking BSN Nitrix and NO Xplode for pre-workout.

For protein, real whole foods are preferable, but if you go the powder route whey protein isolate is what I prefer (best ratio of protein to calories). If you're consuming it closer to your bedtime, then consider casein instead.

You don't need these for a start. Cup of coffee and get in there.

Food works best followed by an Isolate as you say above.

you can go to whole foods and buy grassfed organic beef for $4 a pound and buy a weeks worth of organic lettuce for $2. make yourself a 1/2 pound burger on the grill after your workout. wrap the burger in lettuce and BOOM, you got yourself a healthy meal full of nutrition . .. cheaper than wasting your money on powder

Whey Isolate is the "purest" form and best quality of whey you can find. Also lowest in lactose.
If you want to go with the burger just get some real bread to get you some carbs as well ;)
