Hey EVO fam, it came to my attention today that our members in Eastern Canada have it really bad when it comes to getting bloodwork.

Thankfully @teddy_vio stepped up and shared his secrets for working the system out there to get the care you need.

Below is his step by step guide to access bloodwork yourself

1) Register for Maple care. If they ask if you have a primary doctor just say you don't.

2) When booking your appointment on Maple, choose the 'lower' care option, as opposed to the full care option. With the lower option, you will often be paired with an NP and wait is usually an hour or less.

3) Tell them you don't have a family doc, but you've been followed over the years with regular PSA testing due to family history of prostate cancer ir make something else like that up. You need to give them any reason to issue you a bloodwork form.

4) When you get the requisition form to print off at home and take to your lab, just check off any extra boxes you want tested. The items not on the boxes are added in the notes section. Feel free to reach out to me and I can let you know what acronyms the doctors add in this section for certain tests.

5) Assuming you've created your account on the MyHealthNB app, your blood work will be posted there for you after about a week.

Hopefully this helps people in Eastern Canada. If there's anything missing or extra help tips you can offer up please post it here for everyone. Also please share your experiences to help the other members in Eastern Canada get better access to bloodwork testing.

Great thread for a community research thread for Eastern Canadians!
Thanks @BeMe for creating this help guide with answers to many FAQ's that Easterners have and thank you @teddy_vio for the bloodwork hack for Easterners as well.

This was a much needed thread to point Easterners to when bloodwork is needed.

The Ontario thread is here: https://www.evolutionary.org/forums...bloodwork-done-in-canada.106348/#post-1917781

Now we just have to cover Westerners and we're good to go.

Hey folks, regarding the MyHealth app, NB has one, NS has one. Right off hand I don't know about PEI or NL. But if they don't, or if you are in NB or NS and for some reason don't use the Health app, you can just log back on to Maple after a week and ask that a note be sent to the doc or NP that helped you and ask they upload your results to your Maple account/encounter. Maple can be used via online website or via an app. The MyHealth stuff is only via app and easy to register on. You should really be using it as it helps you access your various results, appointments, hospital stays, etc.
And just to be clear, IMHO this is really about being your own advocate. Big shortage of healthcare providers/services here, and Maple is a great tool they've started using that allows you to get care without having a family doc, without having to wait a month for an appointment, without having to stand in line for 2 hours at 7AM to get into a walk-in clinic, etc.

This is awesome! It's ridiculous how difficult it is to get simple bloodwork done in Eastern Canada. Huge thanks to @teddy_vio for sharing the Maple Care workaround – definitely going to give that a shot. Hopefully, this will save a ton of time and hassle. And seriously, a community research thread for Eastern Canadians is long overdue!

Are you talking about www.getmaple.ca?

Hopefully they show Alberta some love too cuz AB has it just as bad as you guys did in BC
getmaple.ca does Alberta it seems. We might be able to do up a Western Canada thread now that more are including West provinces.
