I'm a musician so, aside from the fact that I wasnt actually on stage, I was right in my element! I hafta say, despite the fact that Ben was sick, Breaking Benjamin was best but I'm a huge fan of theirs so I'm bias. I was surprised at how heavy Bad Wolves are - I like them a lot more now. From Ashes to New was incredible. 5FDP was high energy just like I expected them to beOh, that's awesome, sub - totally exhausting and thus awesome!![]()

Going to see Shinedown in a few monthsQuite the well-written and informative review, sub. Thank you!
We saw Five Finger Death Punch in Portland, Oregon in 2016 and, yeah, it is indeed a high energy band; one that truly cares about whether or not it please its fans.
SIXX:A.M., Shinedown, and As Lions all did great jobs, too. But Death Punch ruled the day. They are every bit as intense as what Disturbed and Dope are.
Going to see Shinedown in a few months

We think the same thing about their newer music, especially their newest album - but their music, especially their first album, speaks volumes to my wife and I as we both had struggles with addiction, so they hold a place on our musical hearts! They're often a bit "popish" for this old headbanger. But they're terribly good showmen, and I always appreciate that.

Yes sir it sure is a high! Being on stage is the biggest high I've ever experienced. Not a day that goes by that I don't miss thatOh yes, I recall your having mentioned that before.
Being able to relate to someone's music on such a deeply personal level is a powerful elixir. I'm not interesting enough to have ever had a substance abuse problem. Nonetheless, Crue's "Kick Start My Heart" causes me goosebumps all over my body and makes me as though I'm in the "saddle" again. I mean, I can practically smell two-stroke oil in the fucking air!
So yeah, bro, I can only imagine what you and your wife are feeling and the deep connection to one another you must experience when listening to such music, most especially in the form of a live performance. It's a high in and of itself, no?

Anything and everything. Cocaine, heroin, pills, alcohol - didnt matter as long as I could get high. I preferred uppers because I am naturally a downer but at that time of my life they all had their placeWould you share what the addiction was? If not I totally get it but just curious. It was opioids for me.

Glad you're clean also bro! It's a great thing! I am able to have alcohol without an issue and have been able to do so for quite a while, but I simply choose not to. I was actually into tossing iron well before I was an addict. In middle school and high school I was very athletic and tossing weights. My issues were always underlying as I had a really shitty childhood but they didn't "turn on" until my musical career did. It was just so easy because it was always there. Such a part of that lifestyle, and it fit me and all my issues - it worked - well, I thought it did - until it didnt (if that makes sense!!)Oh of course, they all have their place for sure.
Heroin was my number one, and of course any and all opiate or opioid based drugs that were readily available. I had an RX to all the heavy duty pain meds years back after my injuries and that’s how it began for me. Of course I would throw in uppers consistently once I strayed away from prescriptions and started buying drugs via the street, so I know the feeling of eventually any and everything.
Glad your sober too brother, I’ve met a lot of addicts here, the iron game is a good thing to turn too. Just one thing to watch as I think some of us end up substituting AAS for street drugs, and I was guilty of one point too.

Isnt it crazy how each persons story is unique but yet so similar?!?!Hell yes it worked! Haha no for real though I get it, it always seems like it’s working at first.
I too was into fitness heavily before drug use, I was in the best physical condition of my life in the Army and after I got injured and got started on the pain meds I had lost so much I worked for.
I was struggling with PTSD so like you I was using the drugs to help cope myself, I was scared to reach out to the doctors.
After awhile the VA figured out I was abusing my meds because I kept trying to get early refills, and back in 2012 they would just call it in and not care. The VA pharmacies and doctors don’t have to follow the exact prescribing and refill laws based on your state since it’s the government so they would just call it in to get you off their back.
So fast forward and finally the VA began to get scrutinized as well, and all the doctors both civilian and VA started realizing how bad the epidemic was getting. This is around the time all the pain clinics started seeing the writing on the walls too (at least in NY) so everything got tough in the RX drug world. So finally they kicked me off all my scripts because of abusing them, mean while they had no open beds in detox or anything so they just left me high and dry to kick.
I said to hell with that and started to find pills on the street, well that got harder too because everyone else was getting kicked off.
So then comes heroin and the rest is a wrap.
But all the other details aside - the gym helped me home in on a normal life again and be a father and husband.
Isnt it crazy how each persons story is unique but yet so similar?!?!

Yea man I never paid for anything. Thanks for the kind words my brother - glad you're on the right path also!!It is man, there always seems to be similarity with a lot of addicts.
I can only imagine how hard it was in your world though, the constant drug use in the musician world has to make it difficult. The drugs are always around and free half the time is my understanding, so it has to be real hard to get sober.
So again I commend you man, glad you and your wife are good brother!!

I'm not in a band anymore. I have CDs yes. I'll take some time to convert them to MP3/4 and share some links. Sadly, I dont have a lot of stuff left because my cunt ex wife threw away everything during the divorce - all my pics with celebs, gig posters/flyers, notebook upon notebook of music and lyrics, demos, love recordings, albums - fucking everythingOh wow! How cool! Does your band have any recorded music that you could share with us, sub?

Well I refuse to bail on my daughter so what other options are there! Just make the best of it. We try to stay active and do things in the winter but it just isnt as fun!And that, my friend, is a very healthy way in which to look at your situation. Nonetheless, sub, I do so feel for you.

Cedar that needs a restain! Plus its wet from thawing snow. Whopping 35 degrees today! House is 14 years old and the deck has never been refinished. I'll restain it a year after I build the new deck. I always like to let exterior wood weather a year when possible before finishing. Before long the deck will be buried under feet of snowA redwood deck?
