I've worked with multiple clients who have either Type 1 or 2; type 1 is a little easier as they are used to eating proper from the start, but with 2 it's a bit more painful since they aren't used to eating right.

I concentrate on low-GI carbs, lean proteins and healthy fats, taper down carbs towards 7 and limit the carb meals to control blood sugar level. It's a semi-low carb combined with higher protein. Of course, everything is monitored, including glucose and ketone levels.

I had a friend with Type 2, he was doing a ketogenic CKD on a cycle without a problem.

I think everyone is still unique; even if diabetic. Are you prescribed insulin? metformin?

Obviously you don't want to just eat garbage, but I think you can definitely still eat carbs and eat more like a traditional bodybuilder does; you just need to know how your body responds and make sure your medication (be it metformin, insulin, or something else) is dosed accordingly.

I have type 2 , or should I say had type 2 , according to the doc I haven't had it for nearly twelve months , I eat very healthy , but hadn't up until twelve months ago , I eat lots of greens , not a lot of carbs , lots of red meat , lots of chicken, turkey, not gone on fish , but if I have to I will , no bread, etc, I eat like anyone else who trains and cycles . I don't even take the medication anymore as the doc said I don't need to , she doesn't understand how it's completely gone as if I never had it .

considering most of us carry a lot of mass on our frames this is an important topic.

i am not a diabetic but I am huge for my height and have a lot of mass and I suspiciously believe that I am definately insulin sensitive. this means I can eat clean as a cucumber and still have trouble losing body fat. it really sucks. I wasn't like this before I started putting on mass, i actually used to be skinny all my life and then was even an endurance athlete in my mid 20's. body fat was 6% measured and i weighed 133.. today I am 205 at 5 6 1/2 height and 14% bf. as you can tell by my avatar I'm a big boy

everyone in my family has diabetes and i even had a grandmother die from it at a young age .. but i take care of myself and exercise everyday so i have kept it away, knock on wood.. if there comes a day where i let myself go and quit on the life i have little doubt i would easily become one. i know bodybuilders in their 30's who become diabetics just cause they are so big..

I've seen this happen quite a few times before with those diagnosed with diabetes. Sometimes when you are start eating right, and stop eating garbage you can make your body do a full 180, as if you never had it in the first place

We'll Folks, I'm very happy for you. Just woke up one day and your Diabetes was gone. Just eat some berry's and fruits. Like I mention in my post. I've been working with Type 2 Db's for about 10 years. We have ppl from all over come in the local YMCA and give hours of "free help" "Nutrition ,Low Fats, High Fats ,Carbs ,Etc... I truly wish it was that easy..................AnalogMan

You are saying you cured your diabetes?

I think you may have read my post wrong.. I was responding to Jont2013...There is 'no' cure for Diabetes that I know of............AnalogMan

I no longer have Type 2 diabetes , this is a true statement , ( technically I guess , I mean just like an alcoholic is still an alcoholic even if they haven't drank in ten years ) my HbA1c (Glycated haemoglobin) and fructosamine have come back completely clear for well over twelve months now, I asked my doc to explain what this means and was informed that my diabetes is gone , as I said before , it's at a point where it seems I never had it .

You can provide people with all the information in the world , give them all the advice they need to do something , you can test them six months later after they inform you there doing just what you said and following all your instruction , but if those results are coming back telling you there not , then there not doing anything to help themselves.
