So I went to donate blood because my rbc count is through the roof but they wont take it because my heart rate wont go below 110. I cant get it below 110. i even took 1mg of xanax an hour before I went. Any ideas of what I can do. I went to the gym last night and before I took anything and before I worked out I checked my heart rate and it was 118.

Sounds like your resting HR is also an issue, a HR that high for long periods can cause shit like cardiomyopathy.

How highs your HCT and HGB?

When was the last time you had cholesterol checked?

He needs more than that.

And to the OP, do you have access to clonidine or even metoprolol? Preferably clonidine? That will work great with the Xanax, also plenty of water but that should go without saying.

“He needs more than that”

Definitely agree lol

Yeah really I dunno about that comment but rest is more suited for a heavy leg day maybe. Certainly can’t see it lowering RBC, nor a resting 118 HR.

Also what gear are you on? Any uppers? Again how high is your RBC, and what meds can you get ahold of?

You can try the rest thing though just to see.

You could try getting fit

i'm not going to be one of these people who bash you here because MOST guys on here who are using steroids if they actually got their heart health checked it would be UGLY. i suggest you all listen to the podcast we had last night with the anabolic doc.

heart health is a major problem

in your case OP, you should not have let your heart get so poor. i go donate blood all the time and i watch MOST people get rejected for high bp and high HR. you aren't alone here. but you need to change it right away

1. your diet needs to be better
2. you need to exercise consistent (doesn't have to be crazy shit like running in 90 degree heat, just be more active)
3. reduce stress
4. sleep more
5. yoga/meditation

I think it was more bashing the ‘you need a good rest’ comment, because as you said this stuff is serious.

I only know my ticker is in good shape because I had stress tests, ekg, stress echo, regular echo - pretty much everything but the dye and scope test.

Probably wouldn’t hurt for most of us to have this stuff done.

bro if your resting heart rate is 110m, please get to a doctor. There is something else going on. My resting heart rate is typically around 50 - 52 but that's cause I focus more on heart health than anything else

On that note isn’t it wild how much diet can effect your resting HR? I remember a few times where I was just eating whatever I wanted, junk food, fast food, anything and my resting HR ended up creeping all the way up to 85 when it was 55-65 normally. Change back to the normal diet and it dropped right back down within 4-5 days.

totally man. diet is unbelievable with Resting Heart Rate, absolutely. People don't realize that diet can fix over 50% of the problems they have if they just ate the right shit and cut the right shit out. From psoriasis, to eczema, to pain, inflammation, to heart issues, diabetes, even some cancer! I could literally go on and on and on about the issues diet alone fixes.

Yes. Excess sodium and artificial additives raise blood pressure

You are correct there brother, there’s a huge difference in just how you feel. Unfortunately my guilty pleasure is salt and red meat, I’ll cook up a tenderloin and some green peppers but the amount of salt I put on it is insane. Thankfully I’m not a sweets or carbs fan but man I like salt and red meat a touch to much.

There are far worse guilty pleasures than salt and red meat bro. Eat up!

if you are consuming grassfed organic beef a couple times a week it is perfectly fine UNLESS you have some sort of digestion issue like crohns or leaky gut. then no it isn't fine. and if you ate the right parts of the animal you actually are fine consuming it daily.. things like the collagen from the bone marrow are actually very good for us. the problem is 99% of people out there eat a steak and only eat the tasty parts of it. they throw the bone, soft tissues and fat away in the trash. instead of doing that make your own bone broth at home. i have some cooking right now!!

as far as salt, consuming too much will cause water retention temporarily. however again it is perfectly fine.. what gets guys in trouble is that the foods that are processed contain a lot of salt.. but salt is a necessary electrolyte. when i fast i will take in salt and other electroloytes because they help me avoid dehydration

Sometimes people get white coat syndrome. They see a medical professional and get all jiggy. This has happened to me especially knowing there going to see a high hemocrit. Can you take you’re blood pressure at home and see where it’s at ? Is you’re resting heart rate really that high or just at the donation site ?

U
