allergy to creatine

After taking creatine for 2 weeks I started getting rashes yesterday. Is there a way to see if I have an allergy or it's soething else? I'm concerned about this being a creatine issue.

Supplemental creatine is nothing more then the amino acids glycine, arginine, and methionine synthesized together. There is no way you can be allergic to it. Are you using a stand alone creatine product or a flavoured creatine product? The only thing I can think of is that you are using a flavoured creatine product and you are allergic to one of the artificial sweeteners or flavours in the product. If that's the case, I suggest switching to a stand alone creatine product that is capsulated like Ancient Strength from n2bm.com.

If you are already using a stand alone creatine product, the rash and creatine timing is juice a coincidence. You are maybe allergic to pollen or grass. A lot of people get allergy symptoms in the summer months from those.

Creatine as such should not cause any allergies, since these are naturally occuring amino acids that you already have in your body. Therefore, most probably you are having an allergic reaction to some additives that might be in your particular creatine product - many companies will add flavorings and other additives to make it taste better. Hence the reason it is best to use raw unflavored creatine. Personally, I use Ancient Strength, since it has three kinds of creatine, and it has no additives whatsoever, so you are getting a very clean product with it.

Did you change anything else in your diet?

I can't see creatine being an issue here since you already have it in your body. I would think it has to be either something else in your creatine supplement or diet/environment driven. Are there any other changes in your daily routine?
