Just wanted to post about by personal anavar experience. I feel like there is a lot of confusion going on by people who use "bro science" and random internet studies they find to back up their own personal philosophy.
beginning stats (at time):
5'10
235 lbs
not sure ab body fat--between 17-20%
blood work done before, all values in range.
Purpose of cycle: not necessarily to have massive strength gains (pretty strong already) but to reduce my trunk fat significantly. Also, first cycle.
Length: 12 weeks
Dosage: 40 mgs per day (20 mg on wake-up, 20 mg before lift)
age: 20
Pct: 150 mg clomid for 4 weeks
Supplements:
Multi, fish oil, joint support every morning
protein
amino acids liberally
Prior to the cycle, I was about to enter my 7th year of lifting. College student so my body and diet etc. are/were pretty poor. Using anavar to help facilitate a lifestyle change and all around healthier life style.
I ran the 40mgs a day and felt a noticeable difference in everything I did. I usually average 4-6 hours of sleep a night (and not even because of partying usually I am up late studying etc) and anavar acted as an equalizer of sorts. Essentially, it allowed me to keep making gains in the gym (although not particularly ridiculous ones) while I was living a life style that was not conducive to making long strides in the weight room. Anavar allowed me to maintain great workouts. I finished the cycle (pct included) at 227 pounds, and no loss in strength. In fact, I maintained all of my strength but did lose some endurance when I stopped the var. I also switched up my diet a fair amount and added in cardio.

Major lift differences:
bench press: 345 to 365 (+20)
Deadlift: 405 to 425 (+20) note--did not work dead lift a lot
Squat: 405 to 495 (+90) note: did not know my 1RM for squat, never went beyond 405 for 3X3
