Chest Shape

monarchy

As I'm looking through pictures of a few pro athletes and a few forum members I noticed that there are a variety of different chest shapes. Not necessarily size but shape.

Are there exercises that work certain parts of the chest that cause them to shape and form differently??!

its basically genetics, you really cant cause one area to contract more than the other. 2 muscles...most people think you have a lower, middle, upper pec muscle. Just not the case.

EDIT: Pec major and minor, you can only see the major as the minor lies beneath it.

Hit all three parts of your chest every workout and YOU WILL SEE GAINS!!!!!!!!!!

What three parts are you talking about exactly??

Flat, incline and decline

This is an avenue that I've personally found I didn't like. I prefer to switch it up from workout to workout to shock the muscle group. Not everything works for everyone though!

genetics play a part in the shape of your muscles, but the diff typs of excersizes you do will also determin how a muscle group looks. if you do alot of incline chest excersizes your upper chest will be big and make you have what i call a squar chest, if you do the opposite you will get what i call the tittie looking chest, were it looks like breasts in a way...like how most pros have.

i for one am not really into haveing the tittie looking chest so i do alot of incline vs flat bench /excersizes.

Agreed, same here. I don't even bother with decline and I know a lot that don't too. I've read enough articles to suffice doing this.

unfortunetly it's all genetics bro. Some people are lucky and some are not.

Yep you can't get past your genes.

I agree on the inclines. I've been doing more flat work in the last year though. I rarely ever do declines. I would prefer to "square" mine off if I get to pick at all. LOL

yea I would like a square shaped chest too!! I'm still in the prestages of getting my workout plan and diet down with all the supplements I need. I can feel my chest muscles and they kinda have that titty like feel. You know the circular looking shape at the bottom! lol

genes play a big role in shape of any muscle!

mine are like big squares... im happy with my chest

^lol dont hate!

you can definately change the shape of your chest. the fascea gets tight in the areas around the edges of the muscles. if you deap tissue masage and stretch the hell out of the fascea arond say the upper outer portions of the pecs you will fill in more in those areas over time. (maybe 1 cycle if your cycling). that same rule goes for every muscle you can see. they are all helf in form by fascea. if the fascea wasnt there they would just look like fat blobs. i sugest you study up for a while before venturing into that area yourself or you find someone who really knows what they are doing if you are going to do it.

That's something I've never done a lot of BUT about a year ago I did them religiously for a couple of months and I did see a difference.

Yates swears by decline. Ill take his word.

not saying he is wrong, because obviously he is not....but ive never seen any real big plus to decline, even when i was a trainer and going to school, it was always an ehh...its ok i guess type of excersize.

even tho i never do it or tell people to do it...i say whatever works.
