I am a big advocate digestive enzymes, psyllium husk and probiotics. As bodybuilders, we are constantly overloading our digestive systems and those three supplements will go a long way in promoting optimal digestive health.

Take a high quality probiotic first thing every morning with a glass of lemon water before breakfast. Look for a probiotic supplement that is stored in the fridge. Remember that probiotics are a live bacteria and a product stored at room temperature will have a greatly reduced potency. A good probiotic supplement shouldn't be cheap.

Supplement with digestive enzymes with 2-3 meals per day. In particular look for the digestive enzymes proteases and peptidases, as these enzymes split proteins into small peptides and individual amino acids.

Psyllium husk is the highest natural food source of soluble fibre you can obtain. The majority of the fibre you intake from your daily diet is insoluble fibre. The key benefit of soluble fibre is that soluble fibre absorbs water in your stomach and creates a gel. It gives your intestines a sort of 'internal scrubbing' as it passes through. It will help keep you regular and the faster you can remove toxins from your body, the less likely they are to be re-absorbed.

I order my psyllium husk bulk off of truenutrition.com. Use code tkz564 to save 5% off your entire order on the site.

I totally agree^^^. I take digestive enzymes with meal 2, 4 and 6. I take my psyllium in the morning ands probiotic at night. Right now I am using a 42 billion stand.

I always look at the "manufactured" date on the probiotic bottle because probiotics decrease in strength at a rate of about 2%per month. Refridgerated or not. So the closer to the manufactured date the better.

I belive ultimate flora brand has a critical care version which contains 200 billion strands....it's a strong one and is only recommend for a weeks use. But its a great kick start to your new supplement regimen.

Good luck.

Ooo I want to add lots of times dairy and gluten can cause digestion issues. Possibly eliminate them :(

Great info guys! A slight problem,my supplement budget, is about maxed. if you guys had to pick, between one of these supplements, which one would it be?

bro i suggest you do probiotics daily with digestive enzymes and daily fiber...best solution

You just can't come up with a more complete answer than @muskate! All in all, I do take digestive enzymes and probiotics, and I can't overestimate their benefits for my digestion. Besides, they are very natural, and have no side effects.

also try and eliminate what is causing your stomach upset

you might have a gluten or soy allergy. check labels. you could be lactose intolerant (most people are and don't realize it)

the easiest thing to do would be an elimination diet and then gradually add stuff back in.. if your stomach starts acting up then you will know what caused it

Yes. Table sugar of all kinds, brown, white, coffee. Farmers were looking for an alternative to pig feed back in the 1930's. They resorted to sugar as a means, absolutely got them no where and the pigs also for that matter.

Just wanted to update and thank you guys for all the info, witch I put to good use:) I sense started using Digest Gold & Psyllium husk. My gut is already on the mend, and my appetite has already increased which is good news!
