Just curious how many of us do home workouts and how often a week? What equipment you use etc...

No Excuses, Never Quit and Its Never To Late

I'm at the gym 4 x week plus 2 days at home. One day at home I'll do a series of push ups and pull ups for about 45 min. Second day at home I'll spend about 35 min doing core work , Turkish get ups, planking, different variations of sit ups. Basically, the 2 days at home I try to do calisthenics. It gives my body a break from the heavy weights and I still get a real good workout. I started this a month ago and I feel great. I go to you tube and other on line sources, see what people are doing and make up my own routine for home.

There is no such thing as a bad workout and working out at home is certainly better then not working out at all but a home workout will never compare to the quality of workout you can get in a commercial gym.

Not just that, home is comfortable. It allows for complacency. When you are in an external environment surrounded by other people, you will push yourself harder and train more intensely.

I find this to be opposite. At a gym I've heard guys say their embarrassed and afraid to exercise for fear of someone seeing them lift lessor weight than someone else. Their afraid to even try their new program their coach gave them that they paid good money for. I was doing skull crushers and a guy asked for my help. He was afraid of not being able to get the weight up the coach told him to use. I obviously told him to find a new coach, but I did help him. There is no way the time was taken to get his baseline limits. I'm not like that. I could care less what people think in the gym. He explained he likes working out at home much more, but he is trying to make new friends for his new life style. I told him to just shoot a gram of Tren and all worries would go away lol no I didn't....

When I can't get to the Gym.
I have a Small Home Gym.
Have a Lat Tower/Dip/Knee Raise/Push-up Unit ~ Roman Chair-Hyperextension Unit ~ 4 Position Utility Bench ~ Cable Flye Machine ~ DB's from 10 Lb to 55 lb.
Assorted Stability Balls ~ Assorted Bands of varying strength ~ Assorted Foam Rollers ~ Mini Trampoline for Cardio............................... JP
P.S.
Almost forgot.
Olympic Bar and Olympic Easy-Curl and 135 Lbs of Free Weights.

JP, do you ever feel like you might be getting to the end of this, or slow down some? Most Bodybuilders don't have that much and your 63! I only hope I am half as healthy as you at 53, much less 63.

Actually, I do have a little set at home, since many times I physically can't get to a gym in the open hours, and need to workout at 1 or 2 am. For this I have a bench, a barbell and dumbells with lots of free weights - this way I can do pretty much everything at home. There are many advantages in working out at home, especially if you have a ton of work to do. Yet, I always find at least one day per week when I can go to a gym, and do stuff I can't do at home.

I have to workout at the gym cause it helps push me harder. environment is important. find a meathead gym, not a gym with a bunch of glove wearing beta's walking around with straps on their hands and using belts to do 1 plate half squats.

at home I will do stretching, inversion table, and stuff like that

I can't speak for the other Older Guys.
But for me, I can't Stop, I have Osteoarthritis.
And Working out in the Gym actually keeps my Joints Healthier............................................... JP
P.S.
Although I must admit this last year has been a Bitch with the Back Issues and Hip Surgery.
But I'm finally back in Better Shape than I was 2 Aprils ago.
With more Emphasis on Mobility and Stability.
That's where Hiring a Physical Therapist to Identify and Remedy all my Problem Areas was well worth the Money.

JP, you and I have talked about our back issues already. If there is anything I can do to help with trading information, please don't hesitate to ask my friend. I seriously look up to you and how healthy you look and preform! PT's can be a god scent blessing with the right one. I've had the same one since 1994. If and when I loose him, or his wife, I'm not sure where I will go.

No Excuses, Never Quit and Its Never To Late
My entire routine is at home. I hit it every day, four on one off. I do not own a gym pass and very slowly added any thing I needed to be beneficial to my physique. Working out at home is great, but I gotta admit the motivation aspect is more difficult than that of a gym. I even have neighbors come over for advice and a workout, every now and again.

Personally I do not enjoy working out at home. I like to have a lot of space, all the equipment, the atmosphere, no distractions, etc

Personally I love working out at the gym and don't think home workouts compare. Saying that...any workout is better than none and if you have a good diet/supplement program you can still achieve good results.

I'm investing in some free weights for home. I know there is no way to get the atmosphere I love at my hood gym. I'm not even sure why I keep my other gym. One thing I love is not looking in a mirror to see a pretty purple, or pink sign that reads: DONT DROP THE WEIGHTS, NO LOUD WORKOUTS, ITS NOT POLITE!
