How many times a year should I donate blood? Do you guys do it often, my wife does is 4 times a year. Would that be sufficient for me? I cycle 1-2 times a year.

do it as often as you can. for me they call me when I am due.. it is every 6-8 weeks plus i get 2 movie tickets and am saving lives + they will test your bp, cholesterol and other information for free. it is a win/win/win for everyone

They call me also. I’m about to go here in the next week or so.

They give me 50$ and I’m helping people and it makes me feel like one million bucks.

And you can't argue with that. Feel good all round

Giving blood is extremely healthy and you can save people. Always a great idea. I recommend every 8-12 weeks to go in. I have an app on my phone that reminds me and I just book an appointment on there. My Masonic Lodge also sponsors a blood donor clinic so I try to do that one ever time I can.

Old post i know - but here is a question: my wife has lyme disease and although i havent been tested i am somewhat symptomatic and believe i may have it as well. With that said, i cannot donate blood because if i do have lyme it can be passed from my blood to a recipient. Donated blood, stupidly and sadly, is not for lyme in the USA. Any other suggestions?

You can still donate blood. Just lie on the form, then after they take out the blood tell them you forgot to mention you have lyme disease lol

Symptoms are pretty telling, although my body manages them better than my wifes. Testing is extremely expensive - well, proper testing anyway...
