Intensive workout for two hours?

NFRCR

I want to ask your opinion about working out intense for two hours. Is it possible it can start burning muscle already? If so would a protein shake in the middle be effective? I am on gear also. So perhaps fat will burn instead of muscle? The reason why I have such long workouts is that I have incorporated various core exercises in the middle of other exercises which I do every gym session. Without those my workout would last 1.5h.

I'm not too experienced in this but IMO you should be fine your body can take a lot more than you think, Also just increase your calories/macros and it should build muscle and burn fat better than if you were to work out intensely for just one hour

Uhhhhh ok.
So what all is your ultimate goal. I would not recommend what you speak of. Why not just hit an am pm split?
Just cause your on gear doesnt mean much. Actually that makes it worse.

If you want to use an intra use BCAA's not whey. You don't just take something and bam it works. There is a process of digestion.

What is the deal with intensive core training? Again what is your goal? Just have abbs? Abbs are made in the kitchen my friend.

Unfortunately my pics don't show it cause I'm trying to bulk still. But on a shred im pretty defined and have toned abdominals. i cant say I have touched an abb workout in two years. Most competitors don't.

Try limiting your training to 1.5 hours. Focus on specific groupings and if you wanna add cardio and abbs, incorporate split training and just come back to the gym later. If you cant do that then look at including just an exercise or two on specific days. Abbs don't need to be trained all the time.

I should add. Steroids or not you will loose muscle mass with over training and poor nutrition.

I remember reading somewhere that after about 45-60 min of fairly intense workout, your body can begin to build up lactic acid which can cause some issues. It may just be that the lactic acid hinders the workout not necessarily muscle problems. Moderator response would be interesting. I'm sure there are multiple arcticles on the subject.

If it's a once in a while think on cycle I wouldn't be too concerned about losing much muscle mass. But as mentioned if it's frequent to an over training point with a weak diet then yea you certainly could be catabolic. If that's the scenario just sip BCAAs during your overly intense workouts, much smoother than a shake and no calories

I never lift weights for 2 hours. It isn't necessary. doesn't mean you can't do it

but I have a 3 day split I do. and each workout is a fast paced 45-50 minutes of muscle hypertrophy. if you are taking short rest periods between sets and pushing yourself you can easily get in 20 sets and hammer those muscle groups hard. no reason to need to go longer

even when I was training for half marathons nobody trained for that long. you just don't need to.

I do see guys in there when I get to the gym and still there when I leave. but I also notice they spend a lot of time socializing and doing half ass sets and taking like 6 or 7 minutes in between. and the thing is their progress is shit, I mean they barely look like they lift. so it is about lifting EFFICIENTLY and lifting SMART. push yourself on those sets and don't take forever in between, a lot of people are just not aware or capable of pushing through to the next level when they workout, so they never push their body to improve, and thus they don't improve

and yes there is such a thing as 'overtraining' but 99% of you 99% of the time will never sniff that point. there is a difference between overtraining and pushing yourself hard, which if you use steroids and aren't doing then you shouldn't be using steroids in the first place until you figure that shit out. that's why I tell guys you need 5-10 years of weight training before even touching steroids so you figure out what works for you and build a proper base

More time does not necessarily mean more muscles. It is all about working out efficiently, and I am a partidary of training for not more than 1-1.5 hours a day. That is plenty of time to work on 2-3 muscle groups thoroughly.

The body is capable of a lot more then people give it credit for. You will be fine. Arnold trained 2 hours a day, twice a day, 6 days a week.

Intraworkout you should be taking a BCAA/EAA supplement, NOT a protein shake. A protein shake will require digestion which will transport blood blow to your stomach and away from your muscles (not what you want).

Most of my leg workouts are 90 minutes. Just make sure you are eating a proper pre and post workout meal that is high in protein and carbohydrates.

Keep training hard buddy! Just don't be stupid and get caught up in the more is always better or 'I have to train this long' mind set. Always evaluate and re-evaluate what you are doing and assess. Is this working? Is this the most efficient way to reach my goals?

sorry to go off topic but I don't want to make a thread for this... What do you guys think about working out today at 3 p.m. and then working out again another part of your body at like 6pm and then maybe again at like 10pm.

thats too long for an intense workout.being that you are on gear, you might be able to pull it off but i feel that much is unnessassary

It depends on what your routine is.. if it takes you 2 hours to work out then by all means.. go 2 hours. You can't over train.. you only under eat/sleep.. if you put in enough nutrition in your body, it's not a problem. But you have to eat and sleep enough to repair. If you Don't then it becomes a problem. Simple as that. Idk if you follow any pro body builders online or follow logs etc.. they train longer than that. They also take daily naps. Eat ridiculous amounts of food. You'll hear every single one say you can't overtrain. That's nonsense to them. Take this advice how you wish.
