Question about Thyroid!!

trank406

Buff Brother
So my wife had a hyperactive thyroid due to taking the T3/T4 combo capsules. I think the capsules were overdosed so it screwed her thyroid up pretty badly. She took the T3/T4 for about 3 weeks. Long story short.. she stayed at the hospital for 4 days and they gave her medication to regulate it. Medications such as Verapamil, Methimazole ( to regulate the thyroid ) and Propranolol which is a beta blocker that treats high blood pressure, chest pain, angina, migraines and such. So she's been on the meds for a month now and she would just like to know.. because of being on these meds is her thyroid going to go from hyper to hypo because she's been gaining weight and she barely eats so what can she do to not gain weight because that's what she's worried about. Any input will help! Thanks!

Not sure but that could happen the thyroid is very sensitive all the women in my family are on t-4 100 mcgeodmand 75 mcg Ed I would ask her endocrologist

Def agree with Mountain-Man, seeking the advice of her endocrinologist is a prudent starting point. My spare 2cents. Methimazole is a med used with pts with hyperthyroidism. Its purpose is to dec the amount of active thyroid hormone. Now typically hyperthyroidism everything speeds up the opposite is true for hypopthyroidism. So with that logic, a pt with hyperthyroidism has a low TSH level or thyroid stimulating hormone. This is monitored by the pituitary gland. In essence low or suppressed TSH indicates the thyroid is producing too much hormone. Methmazole will ^ her TSH level. Take home message, seek endocrinologist to check TSH level and see if her dose of Methmazole needs to be adjusted as Im thinking if it were high it may be the culprit to her weight gain.

Her insurance is shit and she basically has to wait 3 months or longer just to see her primary doctor. So I guess we'll have to wait 3 months to book her an appointment. She can do a walk in but who's to say if she'll be able to get a doctor to check. Trust me man insurance is a bitch and so are doctor visits. Nothing in this life is easy.. it's a pain in the ass! Don't know why it has to be that way but it is!

The thyroid gland takes some time to get adapted to new compounds, so it may well be that your wife's thyroid is still working under the inertia of the medications she has been given at the hospital. It may take some more time than just one month to get stabilized.

Do not self diagnose this. Go see your doctor and ask for blood work to see where her thyroid hormone levels are really at. Don't just guess. Be completely honest with your doctor on your past and current thyroid medication usage. If her blood hormone levels are in fact low, get her doctor to prescribe her a low dose thyroid medication.

You can VERY easily permanently suppress your thyroid through using extraneous T3/T4 thyroid drugs. Unless you are a very serious competitor, I wouldn't mess with them. N2slin and cardarine GW are two much safer options that will provide the same (if not even better) fat loss results.

Look into the supplement T3-PCT by n2bm.com. It should help her thyroid recover.

My GF wants to take t3. I wont let her touch the stuff yet.

I agree, that's a lot of meds and I would let the bloodwork answer the questions, the thyroid is a bitch

So if I buy her the T3 PCT her thyroid function will go back to normal and she'll be able to lose weight with proper diet and working out!? Cuz if it's worth it and it'll help regulate it I'll buy her the T3 PCT

After I had my last baby, actually with all of my babies, my thyroid got all crazy. I was able to mend it with my own "pct"....I highly suggest t3-pct from ntmb. I used 3 bottles post baby #3.

Well she has methimazole prescribed to her at 10mgs.. wouldn't that be enough to regulate it? Her doctor said that overtime if she stays on the methimazole she won't gain anymore weight than what she's already gained. So I don't know! But maybe she'll give the T3-PCT a try.

bro why they give her methimazole?....

Most likely she is on Methimazole because you did not disclose to her physician that she was taking T3/4. Her thyroid is not overactive, but your physician assumes that it is without this knowledge. As her body metabolized the exogenously administered thyroid hormone, feedback mechanisms caused her thyroid to shut down, and Methimazole is probably just making this worse.

The inpatient workup for diagnosing a patient with new onset thyroid storm is probably upwards of $40k and includes an autoimmune panel for Graves disease, thyroid ultrasound for goxic multinodular goiter/thyroid cancer, and radioactive thyroid scan for thyroiditis and above. All of this could be avoided if you just tell the emergency physician up front you are taking T3/4 to try to shed a few pounds

Like others have mentioned, thyroid hormones aint nothing to fuck with. One overdose can put you into a fatal arrythmia, hyperthermia, psychosis.... You think you really know what is in that pill you just bought from some UGL in Uzbekistan? You think they got the concentration right for 20 cents a dose?

Find a Good Endocrinologist and tell him or her Exactly what she took before all of this happened.
See if you can find a Female Endo, probably be Much More Understanding............................................ JP
P.S.
Don't try and do this on your own.
