Intro

Hunter Labrada

Hunter Labrada is a bodybuilder from Texas who is the son of a famous IFBB Hall of Fame bodybuilder Lee Labrada. He is currently a rapidly ascending bodybuilder who some say could compete for the Mr. Olympia crown within the next 5-7 years. His peak stats are 5'9'' and 245 pounds and he was born in 1992 which makes him almost 30 years old as of this article.

Early life

If destiny hadn't come knocking, Labrada might have taken a different career path in athletics because he had always dreamed of playing football, which was his main sport throughout his life into high school and college. You can read his statement and watch his highlights from Northland Cougar High school where he played both running back and safety.

He also held a 4.7GPA and scored a whopping 1890 on his SAT. Not only was Labrada an athlete but also excelled at academics. Unfortunately, while in high school he had several concussions, hip problems, and hamstring strains. This prevented him from putting up enough stats to get any interest from any serious colleges to play sports.

He went on to play college football at a small school called Bentley University in his hometown. Then once he realized he would not make it as a football player in college decided to pursue an economics degree from Texas A&M. He focused on weight training from here on out.

Early competitions

Labrada had the guidance of his father but wasn't an instant success in bodybuilding and had no interest in competing until he was well into his 20's. In 2016 when he was 25 years old he won the Branch Warren Classic, then the next year he was 1st at the Dallas Europa. He hired Andrew Vu to be his prep coach to take him to another level.

He went on to be crowned the Overall NPC Nationals Champion, ignoring critics who said he was dodging tougher shows, but his plan was always to tread carefully then pounce like a lion when he was ready. Part of his struggles was dealing with a nagging shoulder problem that dogged him and forced him to take time off from training. There was one point that he could not even lift 100 pounds over his head.

His rapid rise

In 2020, Labrada again had adversity dealing with the COVID pandemic, however, he said every time there was a quarantine he managed to get even better and was able to improve quickly. He won the Tampa Pro that year and at the 2020 Mr. Olympia he took 8th place, ahead of Dexter Jackson.

At the 2021 Mr. Olympia he improved to a shocking 4th place which was ahead of Nick Walker and behind Hadi Choopan. He has been quoted as saying he will retire at 35 if he does not win a Mr. Olympia by then. His father predicts he will win Mr. Olympia

He markets several supplement and food companies which discount codes you can use which he makes a commission from. He also has a T-shirt slogan called "Win the day"

Nutrition and Training

Hunter Labrada Gym

Labrada has said in the past "the more, the better" when it comes to his training where he would do 25 sets per body part. He realized that he wasn't getting the gains he wanted due to overtraining so he reduced his volume to half of that and he started to get results. His workouts are around 8-10 reps but he keeps his intensity extremely high. He likes to do drop sets and supersets with short breaks in between sets.

In terms of nutrition, he doesn't believe in dirty bulking at all. He believes in a whole food diet of fish, beef, chicken, and natural carbs. He does not put refined foods in his body at all and stays away from sugars. His other favorite foods are eggs, sweet potato, rice, and turkey.

Opinion

With an economics degree in his back pocket, he has the flexibility to do what he wants with his life after bodybuilding, unlike so many others. This is something Labrada needs to be respected for. I keep telling younger guys no matter what your dreams are just finish your degree. Colleges offer weekend classes, online classes, and later classes where it won't interfere with you pursuing a career outside of school. Your education should be your #1 priority during your teens and early 20's. Labrada doesn't need to worry about a thing once his bodybuilding career is done and will have plenty of good jobs waiting for him and doesn’t even need his fathers money.

Steroid stack

Steroids

It is interesting to speculate what Labrada could have used today vs. what his father would have used back in the early 90's. A good guess what he uses today looks like this:

    • HGH 20iu’s per day

Human growth hormone (also known as hgh, somatropin, nutrobal, nutropin) is a peptide hormone which stimulates growth on the cellular level. It is a protein which has endocrine functions in living animals and is synthesized in cells from amino acids. Read more...

    • Insulin 12IU’s per day

Insulin is a peptide hormone produced by beta cells in the pancreas. It regulates the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats; in addition, it stores fat to be used for energy later. When you eat, your blood sugar increases, which causes insulin to be released. Read more...

    • 1200mgs a week Trenbolone Enanthate
    • 1000mgs a week Equipoise

Trenbolone, the most famous steroid for amazing gains, meets Equipoise, the most misunderstood steroid. In this article, we'll be going over the facts on how and why you need to stack Tren and EQ; in addition, we'll cover the fine points of bulking vs. cutting cycles. Read more...

    • 500mgs a week Testosterone Cypionate
    • 500mgs a week Testosterone Propionate

Masteron (Drostanolone) is a unique anabolic steroid because of the way it is derived from DHT (dihydrotestosterone). It is altered by the addition of a methyl group at the carbon 2 position. This structural change is what makes masteron anabolic, and what makes it function the way it does. Read more...
