Steve Kuclo Profile

Steve Kuclo is an IFBB pro bodybuilder who has a long history of competitions under his belt including several high finishes at Mr. Olympia. His nickname is 'King Snake' and his peak stats are 5'11'' and 280 pounds at 5% body fat. He was born in 1985, and has worked as a firefighter and spends his free time on his numerous business ventures where he personifies a 'bad boy' image.

Early Life

steve kuclo

Born in Michigan, Kuclo spend his childhood being active and played hockey, football, and baseball. His best sport surprisingly was hockey, which he excelled at. He fell in love with all aspects of fitness and built a strong physique so he could be better on the hockey ice. The more he weight trained the more he realized he was gifted at it.

Late teens into his 20's

At 18 years old Kuclo won the 2004 NPC Capital City Classic teen class finishing in 3rd place. Over the next 2 years, he won the Teens Nationals Heavyweight along with the NPC Michigan Bodybuilding State Championships. He became a firefighter to help him pay his bills and supplement his bodybuilding endeavors. Ironically his excellence in the gym played a huge role in making his firefighter job easier and not vice versa.

Professional bodybuilding

Kuclo got 3rd place at the NPC Nationals in 2008 and 2010. The next year he won it which earned him his pro card. In 2013, his first pro competition was the Europa Super Show Men's Open where he won 1st place, but more importantly, it got him qualified to compete at Mr. Olympia. This was his ultimate dream to be on stage with the best bodybuilders in the world.

Although he finished a very disappointing 14th place at Mr. Olymipa in 2013, it still has a great experience for him. The next year he won the Arnold Classic which took place in Brazil which got him qualified for Mr. Olympia again. This time he would finish in 9th place which was a five place improvement.

Kuclo knew that he needed to bring in coaching help if he was ever going to reach his ultimate goal of winning Mr. Olympia so he hired one of the top coaches in the world George Farah who is a Lebanese bodybuilder and one of the brightest minds in the industry . One of the things Farah is known for is getting nutrition on point and this was Kuclo's weak point. His guidance helped Kuclo get 2nd place at the Texas Pro in 2015.

Hany Rambod, who is a Persian coach, took over as his coach in recent years. Kuclo would take a break from bodybuilding for a couple of years to refresh then he came back and would finish top 10 at the 2018 Mr. Olympia and then 6th in 2019. He also won the Indy Pro in 2019 and finished 2nd at the 2021 Texas Pro.

His recent 3rd place showing at the Arnold Classic in 2021 shows that he is still not done and we can expect him to continue competing in the next few years.

Social media

He also offers coaching, markets supplements, and posts a lot of updates on his physique.

Marriage and controversy

As we have seen with other bodybuilders Kuclo is no stranger to having a rough time staying loyal to his wife. He married another pro bodybuilding named Amanda Latona in 2015 and they live in Texas. However recently some friction in the marriage has come to the surface with her posting about 'being betrayed'. A picture of him with what appears to be a stripper was posted He also cheated on his ex-fiance so he has a history of this. Since they both share a business it will be a messy divorce.

Training

Steve Kuclo Training

Kuclo's training routine is based on splits. It is also based around a science bunked theory of not just feeding your muscles after a workout but during too. To accomplish this he takes BCAA's, glucose, and creatine between sets.

Another controversial theory he has is doing multiple drop sets where he increases the amount of weight per set instead of lowering it and doing higher reps. He thinks this can cause new muscle growth and wear out the muscle.

Overall he has been known to train a minimum of 5-6X per week hammering a muscle group on each day of the week.

Nutrition

Nutrition

Kuclo struggled with nutrition for years before hiring George Farah who helped teach him what proper nutrition was all about. His meals include his favorites chicken, fish, spinach, rice, chicken, oats, and eggs. He also will eat some fruit and nuts. In the offseason, he likes to enjoy cheat meals including burgers and pizza which helps push his caloric intake up and gets his body weight close to 300 pounds. During prep season he will eat much healthier.

Opinion

Kuclo has used his 'bad boy' image to boost his marketing abilities. Posting guns, trucks, pictures of strippers, and cheating on your wife can work for some, but it also turns off a lot of people in the process. For these reasons and more he isn't the most well-liked guy we have featured, but I believe he just needs to mature mentally and take things more serious if he is ever going to be able to compete against the Big Ramy's of the world to have a chance at a top 3 finish at Mr. Olympia. It will be interesting to see if he completely falls off the bodybuilding train over the next couple of years or can push his way further up.

Steroid Use

To compete against the big boys at Mr. Olympia you must use anabolic steroids. Kuclo would have run some serious cycles to get to 300 pounds and hold that much muscle.

We can speculate his offseason Steroid Cycle looks like this:
