Significantly abnormal kidney function

Check up with my doc this week, labs came back & showed abnormal kidney function. He didn’t send me any details at all, just emailed me and said retest in two weeks.
I’m running EQ 200 mgs / Test P 100 mgs/ Arimidex 1 mg (all eod)

Supps- multivitamin, Tudca, Liver Guard, Vitamin D, glucosamine, fish oil, potassium, magnesium.
I take scripts for HBP and cholesterol to keep them in line.

Any ideas on what’s happening with the kidneys?

Does your doc know you train, use creatine or take steroids?

Unless you have been running "EQ 200 mgs / Test P 100 mgs/ Arimidex 1 mg (all eod)" for an extraordinary length of time, your AAS use, which is rather mild, is not likely to be the source of your kidney's problem. Just to be on the safe side, though, I will recommend that you discontinue the use of AAS until you have a better understanding of your current condition.

doctors for a better word are STUPID when it comes to understanding blood work in a weight lifter

you are breaking down and repairing muscle DAILY when you weight train say 3X per week. this will show up in your kidney values. it doesn't mean your kidneys are failing lol.

your doctor was trained to look at blood work for a normal joe american couch potato who doesn't lift. he isn't trained to look at blood work for a weight trainer.

i once had a doctor tell me that her son weight lifted and had high kidney values so she made him stop at 21 years old. i looked at her and smiled and nodded. i didn't want to tell her how stupid she was cause doctors 'know everything' studying rats in cages for 8 years in some university

i've been weight training for 20+ years and every time i run blood work my BUN and creatinine levels are high.. and last i checked i am still alive. now lets say you wanted to know the truth then you should stop training for a full 2-3 weeks and then run blood work to get an accurate number. your doctor should have known you if you weight lifted in that questionairre you fill out. obviously he is too busy worrying about his golf and tennis match that week to take the 2 minutes to read it

Without knowing your actual values it's impossible to help you. Doctors are trained in black and white. If something is out of the normal range, it's bad.

Slightly high kidney values are normal for weight lifters. Super high values are something to be concerned about though

often times their definition of "abnormal" is quite normal dependent upon the person's lifestyle etc... training falls into that because as pointed out, anyone that trains consistently generally has a higher level but without knowing what your level actually is, its pretty hard for anyone to answer

Is your urine the healthy pale straw color or something different...i drink a gallon of water a day...so my labs for kidneys comes back solid everytime...gotta keep flushing out toxins especially if u take anti oxidants or get deep tissue massage

Yep, urine looks good, clear or pale yellow except couple hrs after my multi vitamin, then it’s vitamin yellow.

My daily goal is a gallon but, I probably only knock down 2/3 honestly. (I don’t carry around the gal jug I constantly refill a water bottle) 7.5 bottles = 1 gallon

Your failure to drink a sufficient amount of water may well be the cause of your problem. Make your goal a reality.

Roger that. Good point....I need that kick in the ass sometimes. Thanks [emoji1303]

having clear urine DOES NOT mean you are hydrated.

if you want to have clear urine drinking a bunch of water and you will pee clear, cause your body is forced to filter that water right back out of your bloodstream so it doesn't kill you.

does not mean shit.

it just means there is little solids in the water. solute. excess electrolytes, extra minerals, phytochemicals, toxic stuff etc can darken your urine. so a yellowish tint is perfectly normal...

it is like throwing more lemon in lemonade and un-diluting the water.

so when you drink a lot of water it clears up your urine, cause there is more water in that lemonade. will it affect a urinalysis? maybe.. but you are getting blood work here. so to think that drinking a bunch of water before your blood work is going to alter the test is ridiculous. it is almost as ridiculous as an athlete getting their urine tested for roids and drinking a lot of water before the test thinking they will cheat the test. (had a guy in jamaica one time tell me drinking a lot of beer before a pot test will cover it up lol)

the only way to get an accurate kidney number is STOP TRAINING for a full 2-3 weeks. simple as that

I wouldn't be too worried about it. Doctors usually make slightly wrong assumptions when they look at the kidney values, more specifically Blood urea nitrogen and Blood creatinine.
The concentration of these substances in your blood is affected by multiple factors. BUN concentration e.g. changes with your hydration. Low when you are well-hydrated and high when dehydrated.
Protein intake also changes it.

Production of creatinine on the other hand is largely affected by how much lean body mass you have. So the more lean body mass you are carrying the higher the levels of your blood creatinine concentrations.
In addition to that physical stressors like intense training can cause increase in creatine turnover and thus --> higher blood creatinine levels.
