Veteran Log My Bulking Journey to 200lbs

@toddthelineman labor sometimes is the best work!
It’s done me pretty good. A lot of people never believed that I never set foot in a gym until I was 40. I’ve noticed that I’m my line of work young guys get bigger and stronger really fast and then as they get older they get really efficient and then you get skinny. It’s probably hormones too. And less hard hard grunt work. Much more technical stuff

I was sweating and breathing and burning, for sure. Before I got warmed up I was like “oh noooooo” hahaha. That always happens. Do a workout that will make me sore and then get my ass kicked the next day
You pushed it that's the key :D @toddthelineman
9/3/25 log
Missed my workout today and wound up skiing instead. Four passes over the jump and some trick skiing I haven’t done in a couple years, took a hard fall that jacked my jaw pretty good hahaha.

Work consisted of loading and unloading a truck full of heavy stuff.

I’m sure now that I really wasn’t eating as much as I thought I was during my break from logging, but I still am very happy with the body I’ve held onto. I was going to eat again when I got home but I’m barely hungry and my jaw hurts too much to be chewing on another pound of meat.

I’m having to readjust to logging and this may be a little glitchy until I get back into the swing of things

Weight in the morning: 180 pounds.

Supps:
Morning
Black coffee
2 caps HCGenerate
3 caps N2Guard
Probiotics

Afternoon
Black coffee

Evening
1.5 tsp psyllium husk

Hibiscus Tea
2 caps HCGenerate
3 caps N2Guard
MK677
3mg melatonin
Probiotics

4x2.5g kratom

7am
11am
1pm
4:30pm

I am just adding this to my log for my own benefit, and transparency. I have felt some guilt about using it due to my previous habits, but I feel like it’s a net positive in my life right now
Skiing must be fun, but how do you find a place to ski in Sept many places for it? @toddthelineman and dont get injured you're worrying us!

You mean kratom you feel is bad? I'm not sure if kratom is bad for you. It's like steroids I believe, if you use it correctly with a proper lifestyle in moderate and controlled doses, you're fine. If you abuse it, you become a crackhead like anything else.

Right on the river that runs right through my town. You would be freezing for sure, but if you do it almost every day it’s just a little chilly, but then it warms up and you feel warm even though it’s only 70 or so. I waterski into November. Heavily invested in wetsuits and drysuits. Heated seats in the boat. Hot water tapped from the engine. You can fill your wetsuit with hot water. I like to set a bonfire, everybody go skiing and then change into dry clothes by the fire. Friends have hot tubs. I would like one but I think sauna instead

I’d be so mad if I got injured when the competing season is over hahaha. I am ok, but banged up. It’s my passion.
Waterskiing > work > training. The training is really just to support my lifestyle tbh. It was never a primary focus for me, although I enjoy it. I’ve got an actually love life working it’s way I there now too hahaha.

Yeah, I have abused it before. Like I would just keep taking more and more whenever I want to keep my energy really high. Then you get dehydrated and crappy feeling and constipated. You can get nauseous. I never do that now, ever, but it stays in the back of my mind you know?

That's awesome and I know you love the skiing :D but we need to redo the formula.

Higher doses and abuse of kratom is REALLY bad for you, straight up like taking an valium or another type of drug in this category. I suggest you really watch the doses and keep them low. @toddthelineman but I know you know this already :D

Waterskiing > training > work :P
That would be great! All I have to do is replace me with four of me. At least four. Then I can live out my dreams.

Yeah it can be very mild, almost like coffee, or it can be very obviously toxic and act a little bit like several different drugs, but make you kind of sicker? I’ve stopped recommending to people unless they are already going to for sure be on opiates for life, then maaaaaybe I will try to explain that maaaaaybe it’s a better option.

Damn you guys are more Canadian than Canadians lol. Pretty sure I won't see anyone skiing or wakeboarding on the lake from now on it's gotten so cool at night. Ur seriously committed

Everyone on the team gets depression in the winter. We have a few meetings throughout the season. It’s like being in an actual tribe. And then it’s just… over. All the kids go back to school. Everybody gets back to the lives they’ve neglected for five months.

Not a bad lifestyle. 7 months of work and 5 months of neglect. Pretty sweet if you ask me.

Winter just means more time to train harder. That's how I keep my sanity. That and the occasional winter ride if it's above 0 and there's no salt on the road. I got heated gear for the bike.

it’s an amazing life, honestly. Hard to sustain.

Yeah I have been itching to get back to the weights for sure.

Our roads are white with salt all winter. Or winter isn’t as long as yours, but we get horrible weather. A few years ago we hit -60°f. I stayed home for that. My house is very… porous. Lots of windows. Lots of doors and sliding glass doors. And it’s U shaped instead of a box. It doesn’t retain heat well. I had huge ice dams trying to cause roof leaks. My awning tore down. I ran my furnace, wood stove, mini split heat pump, and heated floors, put plastic over every window and all but one door. It barely was 65°f in the middle of the house. I was up in the roof busting up ice. Some of my coworkers went out for the inevitable cable outages and two almost died. Dumb

No training today. I’m banged up from yesterday’s fall and it just didn’t seem right. I spent most of my day behind the wheel or in front of a computer plus a conference call and some upholstery work.

Ya last winter was bad. We had a ton of snow load too collapsing shit everywhere. Hopefully it's better this year but based on the current conditions I don't think so.

I didn't get to ride once last winter. First time I can remember.

How'd you get banged up in a crash? Water skiing?

The dream is coming :D

I think if you're talking about coffee deloads then kraton deloads would also be something you should consider tbh.

No training but good food, I see you cooking it up high protein :D @toddthelineman

Oh I would believe it! We have to do that sometimes when the cable gets stuck. You can wait until the drill crew comes back to repair the pipe, and they’ll probably lie about the problem, or you can dig it up yourself, keep making money, and maybe, maybe, get paid for the repair. A couple weeks ago we had to dig a tunnel like five feet long under a road. And four feet deep.

To get the compression couplers on for the repairs the hole had to be at least 6-8 long, so it’s like digging a grave. Always so mad when that happens
bros yeah makes you wonder how they did it 100 years ago

bros yeah makes you wonder how they did it 100 years ago
We used to think about that all the time, it was even part of my training. I wouldn’t know how we would get something done, like cross a river overhead, or find stuck cable 1000s of feet alongside a road. “How did they do it the first time” my foreman said stuff like that all the time. That and “figure it out!”

But when you look at the history of the original utility infrastructure, pipes, cables, etc., one thing is… they died a lot. And debilitating injury was more common than not. Rough back then. Wagons and handmade tools. Crazy

bros yeah i saw a show on that Hoover dam and Panama Canal and how many died. like 25K died in panama canal building it

A lot of those Panama canal deaths were from malaria. No treatment back then so you get bit by a mosquito while you're working and you die...

9/2/25
No weights yesterday, but a pretty decent work day with 8800+ steps and I burned up my chest and shoulders pushing 8000’ of cable into a pipe. Probably really 4000 reps of 5-10 pounds of pressure hahaha. Really worked the soreness out of my chest from the previous day’s 90 pushups.
@toddthelineman nice work getting some quality steps in. Sometimes work will put it on ya for sure

Yeah a trick ski, you know them? Like a tiny wakeboard with no fins, but your stance is forward, one foot in front of the other, instead of sideways. It’s reeeeeaaally hard and really fun. Your balance has to be perfect so it feels really like you are floating. I hadn’t ridden one at all this year because I was doing so much in the pyramids, jump, and barefooting. Well use it or lose it I guess because I could barely get up. I finally got the balance right and was riding, tried to jump the wake like I used to and buried it. Idk why those little skis can make you fall so hard but I saw stars and it jacked my jaw enough to make my ear hurt.

Ah no.. ya I've seen them, never tried one tho. Kinda looks like skateboarding on water with some of the board tricks guys can do.

I don't know what it is about boards but the worst crashes I've ever had came on boards. The boat is going slower, you are going slower, but man I've been wrecked bad so many times on a board and only a couple times on a ski.

Boards you just crash hard vs skiis a lot of the time you skip like a stone and it's not that bad by the time you hit.

A trick ski is like, the slipperiest thing ever. They way your body rotates is such a small space is the devil in it. And it’s flat so if you catch an edge it digs and there’s no recovery. I go 19 mph. The direction of the board is solely determined by your position and how you pull the handle. It’s a very unique feeling. Pros make it look easy. YouTube Erika Lang trick ski. It’s unbelievable what she can do, and there’s dudes that go even harder

Holy shit you ride too? Brother we need to ride next summer I can venture out to T.O. no problem.

Sleep: 8:45pm-7:am with one interruption
10 hours! Felt like I was drugged when I finally woke up.

Morning supps
2 caps HCGenerate
3 caps N2Gaurd
Probiotics
Coffee

4x2.5g kratom

Evening
2 caps HCGenerate
3 caps N2Gaurd
Probiotics
3mg melatonin

Not many steps but I did three sets on a trick ski, and was super shaky from lifting.
And three attempts at skiing “around the boat” with one maximum effort to pull it out when I sank.

Sounds like there's no HOA on your street lol.

I'm usually training in my basement when the door to door people show up. I like seeing the reactions on camera when my dogs run up too the door on them lol.

I'm not worried about cameras outside cuz I probably wouldn't do anything to anyone out there. If someone came inside my house...I wouldn't want that on camera. We don't have castle laws up here tho. We need to respond with "equal" force if someone breaks into your house...what a joke. Who's to say what's equal if nothing is on camera though right. Where people mess up out here is chasing people outside the house. Then you end up in jail for protecting your family and property
This so true in Canada. It's ridiculous! They just charged some homeowner with assault for tuning up a dude who broke into his house with a crossbow and the burglar was already wanted by police too.

I am actually in a sort of HOA, but it’s just for river owners and it’s optional.

The “equal force” thing was definitely written by someone who’s never had to defend themselves. Because you can only defend yourself with “greater force” of some kind, and you don’t know what that is, so if someone has the nads to break into your house you need to stop them with maximum force. I’m not totally informed in my state’s laws, but without a doubt if my house is broken into I’m going to jail or the morgue. And I’ll be in the news. That sucks but I’ve had to fight for my life before. Fair fight is a lost fight

Agreed, you break in at night when you know my family is home I have probably some guns, definitely knives and bats placed strategically all over the house! Fuck 'em. The wife has a bat right beside her bedside table and as an ex-swat guy I've told her where to post herself at the top of the stairs if they come up. We don't have castle law here in Canada at all, but I fucking do.

Thanks! Slow start for sure. Im lifting like a skinny high school kid and still getting sore. Crazy how fast my strength goes away
I hear you brother. I went from 205lbs and got injured tearing my tendons armwrestling my whole family on fathers day and not letting anyone win (fucking ego), went down to 193... continued cycle and added a boatload of healing peptides and now back up to 205. Just keep at it bro!

Injured in June, guess what day... see pics LOL. It was brutal.

You are absolutely right for that. I know a few cops and COs and they all have stories of running into people they’ve arrested or inmates. Even the state trooper who arrested me, he was followed into a Walmart and shot in the back and is paralyzed for life. He was for sure playing dirty, but weren’t we all? I did my time and moved on.

Something I would do hahaha. I love arm wrestling

I did my time too... after being medically retired due to mental fuckery after too many years on SWAT I went full self medicating mode (alcohol and drugs) and apeshit with PTSD and did 6 months in prison. It ended up being one of the best things that happened to me. I didn't mind prison, even the fact I was in the SHU too.

You guys got to move to Florida. Sheriffs here encourage you to shot and kill intruders of your home. Unfortunately felons can't but now they got air pistols strong enough to shoot a real projectile to kill or injury someone that a felon can own.

I don't know what prison you went to but Florida prisons suck and I would not want to go back to that again. I did Federal prison at a prison camp in Atlanta and that was not to bad but being without a women sucks. Even though on the outside I seem fine I think prison definitely messed me up to where I don't have much empathy any more. I learned to bottle up and hide all emotions because you can't have those in prison. That is not something I was able to just turn back on afterwards.

I was very fortunate. I was caught red handed with a suitcase full of weed and was supposedly facing 5-20. Wound up doing 100ish days all in because I was pulled over for no reason and the state trooper had a history of tearing peoples cars to bits and finding nothing. It’s crazy how he pegged me on site. He knew. But when I shave and grow out my receding hair and wear aviators I could play a starring role in a cop movie hahaha.

So I shut down my entire life and stored everything I couldn’t let go of in a friend’s garage and saved up all the money I could to help my kids while I was away and boom! Only 100 days😂. It was shocking how easily I acclimated to being locked up. Never had been so stress free in my life. Never had so many friends. It was like camp. Workout twice a day, eat four times, play chess, read, shoot the shit. Sleep eight hours and a nap. One guy tried giving me a hard time and I kicked him in the face. He quit and kept his mouth shut. I’d have hated SHU though. I did a weekend by myself with no books or anything. That sucked! It bends time, soooo boring.

I think a lot about how police are constantly exposed to crazy shit. Depending on where you are it could just be dead bodies and gruesome stuff and shootouts like every day. Should probably cap the time with an early retirement and pension but what do I know?

That’s tough man. A lot of people walking around with baggage from a different life. Even with my very short stay in a really nice jail that first night was transforming.

Yup, I did 20 years mostly traffic cop (gruesome) and 12 years swat (violent/loud) and got out after 20 and yes to all that that you mentioned is what I did. My entire story about addiction and then committing to the gym is about half way through my log somewhere.

And ya man, prison can be like a dorm. I had that experience before and after the SHU when I was waiting to get transported and it was good times. No one fucked with me probably because I stayed stoic and am all tatted up and jacked and have that built in 1000 yard stare from the job. I expected someone to pull my paperwork and confront me but no one did. I was in there for aggravated assault and assault police so if they pulled my paperwork there musn't have been anything on there about being an ex cop. I went through a period of hating cops for what the police force treated me like when I needed to retire on medical for being mentally fucked from the job so my every interaction with them was not good for them LOL.

See that’s a thing too. A lot of crooks would have been cops and vice versa if the circumstances were different. Both are craving action. But the average felon has far fewer really crazy experiences than the guys taking the calls for every crazy thing happening in their city. Big time criminal maybe seen a few dead bodies, maybe one under their belt. But a swat team cop? Often. For my work, in major cities, we used police as traffic control and you’d get to know them. Hear the stories like , “I blew a guys head off right here. It was right here. The chase ended here, he got out with a gun, boom! Like a watermelon”

That’s intense. I wouldn’t probably have lasted twenty years. I’d have moved to the woods way before that

Holy shit you ride too? Brother we need to ride next summer I can venture out to T.O. no problem.
I'm down. Hit me up if your out this way. Ya bro riding is my biggest passion in life. Started with dirt bikes at 11 years old then got my first street bike when I was 18. Since then I've always had bikes with the exception of about 5 years when shit really hit the fan with my addiction. Couldn't live without riding though... I'd go crazy

Not many steps but I did three sets on a trick ski, and was super shaky from lifting.
And three attempts at skiing “around the boat” with one maximum effort to pull it out when I sank.
Haha nice. Sank skiing around the boat. That's when you know you're really out there.

It’s one of the few show acts I have a 100% failure rate. I’m left foot forward and we go ccw around the boat, so in the last part of the rotation I’m just going so fast and have to turn sharply. Right foot forward skiers are facing the boat the whole time, but it’s behind me. I know lff skiers that can do it every time, but they’re really good at everything, not like me.

I’m committed to it next year. Going to relearn as right foot forward.

Can you not go the opposite direction tho?

All board sports I'm left foot forward but water skiing I've always been right foot forward. I can go either way but right foot front always felt better for some reason. Maybe you'll find the same?

So we tried clockwise, but that’s not how the driver throws it normally. He’s in his seventies and is a practically famous boat driver, it was still wonky. I’m missing something. That was also two years ago. It would be cool if I could just be the clockwise guy but he threw the boat the normal way. You can use different lengths ropes and do a two man Atb in both directions. I’m nowhere near that though. You have to duck under the rope and if anyone loses it you could hit each other. That could be really bad. Right now I don’t even know where I’m at. He signals, I cut, everything goes blurry hahaha, then I’m either flying out of the circle or sinking and trying to turn toward the boat. Almost got it last night although it would barely count since I was fully sunk and stopped

Sounds really cool and sounds like you're close too. It will just click one of these days and then you'll wonder why you couldn't do it before. Learning new tricks are funny that way

Yeah that’s nuts. There’s for sure bodies in the cement.
bros yeah people would fall into the cement and be gone forever
i bet you would have done it you pretty crazy

bros a lot of things can spread from mosquitos. can't you get HIV?
I think that is a myth. But ya mosquitoes are a problem. We got some west nile disease mosquitoes up here in Canada a couple years ago.

Realistically tho we got it pretty good in North America. South America and Africa are pretty scary that way

bros when i was growing up they said you could get AIDS from sitting on same toilet seat. so i never use public bathroom

Yeah I would do it if it was worth it. I wonder how many locals they had on that project who were just poor and willing to do anything. I do a lot of crazy stuff, but my safety record is pretty good considering I was always given the most dangerous and technical work for like 20 years. Some people treat workers like their lives have no value though. When I was told I had to crawl out across the lines 150’ in the air over I94 in Milwaukee so they didn’t have to buy a permit and shut the highway down I quit. Yes, I could have done it easily. But I’m not risking my life to save three multimillionaires $40k. For… $17/hr!
It felt good. They threatened to sue me for my non compete when I went to Hurricane Katrina. But I told them they weren’t competing with me because once I left they didn’t have a single person who could do what I did. What a joke

bros 100% they don't value workers. been that way for years. no different then when kings would send in infantry to battle when they knew they would die with 10:1 ratio

Glad we both made it out ok to move on to better things in our lives.

Great story haha. Ahhh yes, the pink mist in the air after a good headshot. Love it.

Do you take the kratom for pain or something else? I tried that stuff back in the day and I didnt get anything out of it.
Yes, I take it for pain, although I can get away without it sometimes it’s become a habit. At my doses I can pretty much just stop but I’ll be crabby. Quality is very hit or miss And some people just don’t react to it or not the first time, like how some people don’t get high the first time they smoke weed. I’ve got degenerative disc disease among other things, so I can get ridiculous knots in my shoulders and spasms in my back that will put me right on my ass. Kratom is super effective for me.

I have some really good stuff to a friend who was bedridden for sciatica for weeks. He had taken almost all of my hydrodones that I never took from a minor surgery and they didn’t do shit for him. He was scared to take kratom because his junky cousin took it. Finally I went over to his house and mixed a tablespoon of it in water and said “here’s the rest of the pills. You know they don’t work. But this might” and I left. 45 minutes later I get a text “this shits working”. He walked that day and was back to work the next day. He took it for a couple weeks and then stopped. It works that good for me. I could be flat on my back, miserable, take like 1.5 tbsp of good kratom and I’ll be ready to dig holes all day. And not wrecked the next day either. I think it has multiple mechanisms

Interesting. I sourced out good stuff years ago and was taking it for a month but never felt anything to speak for that it did for me. My best friend swears by it and uses it all the time. Back in the day when I was dealing drugs I would source morphine and never sell that but keep it all for myself. That was my drug of choice. Now my drug of choice is caffeine and testosterone! Unfortunately now I am more health consciences so the caffeine has to go for my heart sake but I will still have a love for caffeine. Might have to become a long lost love.

Hmmm. I had morphine too. I liked it. It made my friends puke. No one else liked it. It was too strong. We were kids you know. I always figured that it was people who had an affinity for opiates that kratom worked best for. That pokes holes in that theory. Kratom is strange. It’s almost an undrug. Like it’s an opiate but it’s not. If you take it and then take hallucinogens you can hold a normal conversation even during the peak. If you are talking bpc157 it takes like three times the amount to get your normal effect.

Hahaha thanks for the reminder. I neglect to fit psyllium into my day a lot. Because it has to be taken away from the supplements. And I’m still having flashbacks of getting sick with a belly full of psyllium and really constipated. I don’t think it was the psyllium that messed me up but 😮‍💨. Unpleasant

Weird about how that kratom will work. in my 20's I loved LSD and mushrooms. I used to make and sell gallons of shroom tea. I had a field I could pick twice a day until the rancher caught me. But glad all that crap is in the past and I have new interest like this forum.

Nice work here

Nice work here
A day in the life of the human cable pulling machine. Where was the real cable pulling machine? Hopefully on the other end. My first job before I started college was working for my friends dad pulling cable from fiber optic up to 900 strand. His dad would sit on the back ho and yell at us all day. That's hard work!

Yeah I have a fiber jetting machine. But that duty it wouldn’t push unless I helped it. 432ct fiber. I’ve done 900pr on poles. Pretty much nobody runs stuff like that anymore. It’s a few pounds per foot! Makes sense you’re so strong. Pulling that stuff by hand is about the hardest job you could possibly have. We pulled runs so heavy you had to pull a rope first, just to pull a steel rope, then winch it. You could break poles easily. Those days are over. No one can do that stuff anymore. Eh. Some know how, but they’re pretty old. Maybe some in-house telephone crews stop run legacy systems in weird places.

I just realized we have ying and yang of forums. Your bulking to 200 and I am cutting to 200. You will probably best me there!
I think about that all the time, but don’t be so sure. I’ve hit 195 twice before. Once natty and once I was taking a little bit of a lot of things for a looooong time. Too long. It’s not going to be easy. I could do it easy if I ate pizza and cheesecake everyday, and took as much gear as it takes. But my blood pressure would be very bad. Everything bad.

Man, that was 32 years ago when I did that. We had a cable pulling machine but sometimes we would burn it up and have to pull by hand. There be like 4 of us on the cable playing tug of war. I remember pulling cable in a hospital from street underground all the way up fighting it all the way up just dumping lube down the conduit praying it would move. At least out on the road ways the boss would hook the bucket on the back ho to the cable and pull. Then I became a carpenter. Then got a degree in networking and telecommunications and stayed a finish carpenter. Then eventually just became a home remodeler.

That old liquid lube was so crap lol. Been there pulling lines. The new foam stuff works a lot better I find.

I wish I got into a more conventional trade. I really do. I made 4k today. It’ll be gone like dust. You have to train every single person you hire. And your customers managers and directors. Man I’m tired

Training is a bitch...any way to improve the situation? What's the solution?

You're no quitter. You're not tired

Idk man.

7am-10pm all in yesterday.

But yeah. I’m back at it. Gonna do it again.

I just started a new market yesterday and overall it’s looking really good. The reputation I’ve built at home in the last 8 months carried me here. Lots of good things

I feel you. That's why I am trying to niche down to work I can handle alone and just make a decent living and not have the stress of employees. Hope it works out for me. Hope things get better for you.

You seem like you’ve got a good handle on it. I’m going through it right now, but when I step back and look at the big picture I’m fine. I just have to remember it was kind of worse when I was an employee doing the same thing, but someone else was hiring my help. Even worse help but I couldn’t fire them.

You got this brother. Once you get key good people in place it will make your life easier. I know its hard to get those people and you still have to deal with there drama. I am just at the age I dont want to deal with other peoples drama just may own. I am going to try and stick to working on my own now or helping other contractor friends when they need me.

That's more like the @toddthelineman I know. Getting after it like a maniac mad scientist lol. We're still at that age where we can grind our asses down and we'll rest and enjoy the fruits of our labour in the years to come when we're too old to grind like this anymore.

I just put in another 13 hours. My only help right now is an ex gfs son. I was his only father figure growing up. He came to work with me on his 18th birthday and his mom served him a notice to vacate.

When he was 12 he helped me sandbag my house from the flood. Three straight days of moving thousands of sand bags over and over. He dug trenches to the sump pump pits we dug. All intuitively. I didn’t have to tell him. Never once had to tell him to hustle. That was as hard as I have ever worked and he didn’t even slow down. Star baseball and hockey player, but his behavior has been so bad for his whole life and he bombed in school bad.

I said when he was 12 that he was the exact template of a really good cable lineman. Something like a human version of a Belgian malanois. Keep them working and they are the best, but if you don’t they become insane and may need to be put down.

Fast forward 6 years and he’s my problem now, but it’s sooooo hard to unlock the beast kid inside him and undo the work culture his kid jobs have poisoned him with. I was having to constantly threaten him with homelessness just to get him off the couch. I used to be a real hard ass. The hardest. But I don’t want to be. And at the same time I know if I give up on this kid he’s as good as dead because there’s been a dozen of those already.

So we’re on this new job. Building the backbone of a city wide fiber cable system. I’ve been kind of hanging by a thread To my sanity. Like, I’m ok, but I’m trying to do some really big things and this kids brain is barely functioning.

Three years into a full send, started my own business and either I’m going to make it or I’m going to spend several years recovering and very unlikely I’ll be able to start over. I’ve been to the top of the world and back down to new lows numerous times since I started.

Well. The kid is somehow seeing the reality of the situation we’re in and he’s like a totally different person. From not being able to think past a bowl of macaroni and cheese, to the local crews being impressed that he’s basically doing three people’s jobs and doing it well.

We’re literally sleeping on the job site. I’m going to keep him focused no matter what it takes. And myself.

And myself.
Your doing great bro! You got this. The fruit of your hardwork with that boy seem to be showing signs of fruit of your labor and love. Full respect bro. I been a hard ass to my oldest son. Just like you I don't want to be but feel like they don't listen until I lose my shit. My brother told us today good thing he is leaving for 13 weeks in green and not orange. It's so true. I don't want my son going down the same hard roads I did. I couldn't stop telling him how proud I am of him and I love him as he left for boot camp today. Keep leading that boy he is making you proud getting feed back from others like that.

Sounds like you're making a man outta the kid and he'll be grateful when he's living in a house he owns and has skills to pay the bills. Might wanna back off on the yelling tho..I know it's tough cuz we're old school and that's how we learned but kids are different these days. I've yet to have an apprentice that responds well to that kinda motivation. I usually try it have heart to hearts with them about how their fucking up constantly and I really don't wanna fire them. If that doesn't work then they're gone, like a guy in letting go next Friday.

There's more than just an employee at stake with your kid and you're the adult so you're gonna have to do the thinking and find what works for him. Sounds like he's rounding the corner so stick with whatever it is that's working. Having a solid number 2 in the company is really important and throw that carrot out there for him. These kids are all dreamers now so if you tell him he could end up being your foreman one day running sites it might make him rise to the occasion.

Man I hate yelling. Have had so many heart to hearts. Then wind up yelling. It’s not that bad.

The carrot right now is him getting his first vehicle. Of coooooourse he wants to buy something ridiculous that he can’t afford the insurance for. I’m trying to get him in a white truck so he’s not getting pulled over all the time. If I was a cop I would pull him over every day hahahaha. Told him if gets a work truck I’ll pay him to use it and his gas. No brainer right?🤦‍♂️

You would think, but young men will be young men. I was a young dumb man at one time as well. Advise as best you can and he may have to learn from the hard knocks of life like a lot of us do. But sleep well at night that you gave him the best advice.

Well I failed to track for a couple days there. And failed to eat enough today. Work is going to set me back for a while here, but I’m going to try to track anyway

You didn’t fail at all, you just stepped away for a bit and now you’re back logging again. That alone makes you a winner because most people never even restart once they stop. Work will slow you down sometimes, that’s just life, but showing up here proves you’re still in the fight. Keep tracking, even if it’s light, because that’s how momentum builds. @toddthelineman I do like your food pics, sweet :D EVO family love your way!

It happens, life gets in the way. Don't let it get you down. Just pick up where you left off and keep getting it.
