2 days ago playing soccer i twisted my knee, it is very swollen today, i have a doc's appoiment on monday, what can i take in the meantime for swelling,

thank you.

Fish oil is the best natural anti-inflammatory you can take. The problem with anti-inflammatory drugs like Advil is they carry a very liver hepatoxic nature. They are fine to use once and a while but you really don't want to rely on them.

The best joint/ligament supplement stack you can put together is:
5 tablets n2joint rx from n2bm.com + 25mg ostarine from sarms1.com + 6-10g of a high quality fish oil per day
http://needtobuildmuscle.com/store/Health-And-Wellness/N2Joint-RX-p319.html

This will actually help heal and repair your joints and ligaments, along with reducing pain and inflammation.

N2Joint and fish oil would be two of the most readily available alternatives for you, and they will do a lot of good for your swelling, and joint health. Therefore, I strongly recommend you to take those, and I am sure that your knee will get much better.

The easiest thing to do would be to start taking 6g of fish oil every day. Your appointment is Monday so you wont really have time to get the other products recommended before that. I would see what the doctor says the injury is and then we can go from there.

Wanted to point out the timing issue as well. Also warm compresses might help with the healing in the meantime

you sprained your knee.

DO NOT take anti inflammatories, you can cause more damage to your knee if you do.

I would ice it down and alternate heat. a doctor will probably do Xrays (which 99% you don't have anything broken) and an MRI.. (very expensive) all to diagnose you with a sprained knee. is it worth the cost? that is up to you, depends on insurance. I myself wouldn't bother going to the doctor over a sprained knee. the only thing you can do is rest it and grab a bottle of n2jointrx right now. all the doctor will do is tell you to rest it and give you some drugs for inflammation and pain, they are NOT trained to help athletes.
really in this situation the only positive thing you will get out of the doctor is a referal to a PT, what you need to do right now is research good physical therapists near you so you can request it. they will help you recover faster from your injury. sprains take a long time to heal and the first few weeks are critical.
