Just got my bloods back and my thyroid numbers are off. Trying to interpret what this means and how to remedy it. I'm a new when it comes to this specific problem.
my results were as follows:

TSH- 5.410 ( high ) normal range being .45 - 4.5

Thyroxine (T4) - 9.5 , normal range 4.5-12

T3 uptake - 27 , normal range 24-39

Free thyroid index - 2.6 , normal range 1.2-4.9

So basically only my TSH is high. Can someone tell me what this means and what steps I can take.

Your blood work results are good and show the blood work results of a healthy adult.

TSH stands for thyroid stimulating hormone. It is what signals your body to convert T4 (the storage form of your thyroid hormone) into T3 (the active form). Both your T4 and T3 levels are normal, meaning that everything is working as it should.

Remember that your hormones levels fluctuate throughout the day naturally. I suspect if you got your blood work done tomorrow your TSH would be back in the normal range.

I'm 5'9" 190lbs 25 years old. about 13-14%bf at the moment. Have not done a cycle in over 4 years. Not on anything now, am planning on starting a cycle soon thats why I got the bloods done.
From what I've researched so far most sites are saying that high TSH and normal t4&T3 indicate that you have hypothyroidism bc you're not converting the TSH to t4 and t3 quick enough so its building up. does this sounds right?

Honestly bro i would be talking too an endocrinologist about this if you have a thyroid disorder your going too be much better treating it. But you want a Dr that specialises in this too evaluate it .

Yea i figured I'm gonna have to go to doc just don't have insurance so trying to get as much info on it as possible so that I don't end up wasting multiple doc visits and racking up bills

Sorry but if your hypo th we e will be multiple visits and bloods every 2 months till they gat your meds at the ri g jt dose

Like I said, your hormones fluctuate daily. Your T3 and T4 are both in the normal range. Getting a second opinion from a doctor is never a bad idea but I suspect he's going to tell you the exact same thing I just did. Your blood work results are good. TSH is a signalling hormone. It's your T3 levels that really matter, and they are in the normal range.

Before going to a doctor for a second opinion I would get retested, as your figures are pretty much normal, and the relatively unnormal things may be due to daily fluctuations. At least I can definitely tell you that there is nothing to worry about there in your test.

I would go see an expert, I'm using some organic coconut oil lately to see if that boosts my thyroid a little
