Beet root

Reading that beet root can boost nitric oxide and lower blood pressure. I got a 500mgs cap bottle and took some before training but no extra pump why is that? seems it should pump me up right away.

Because it is over-marketed hype that you got yourself caught into.

It might help but to a such small extent that you will never notice the effects or get a 'right away' pump.

Beet root does have these effects, but they take place in a very subtile manner, so I would not expect to notice any changes. Unfortunately, this is just another marketing scam that is not backed by used experience.

One of the guys in my research lab is actually doing a human clinical study on beet root extract. He saw a small increase in endurance from the participants taking the beet root extract but nothing dramatic. Beet root won't do anything for lowering blood pressure.

If you want to lower blood pressure - take fish oil. It's probably the best over the counter supplement you can take to lower blood pressure.

Rather then take a beet root extract supplement, I personally would just eat beets. Especially now that they are in season. If you bake them in the oven they will caramelize and become really sweet. Absolutely delicious. One of my favourite root vegetables.

This is a very common ingredient added to NO boosting type of pre workout powders. On its own you will not see anything noticeable. What you want to do is get some carbs in with your pre workout meal and train with intensity. That will get you a pump. As for blood pressure, N2Guard, fish oil, krill oil are just some options for you.

... cos you gotta drink the juice, not take a tablet.

But, pumps are not something that comes from a supplement. It comes from blood rushing into the muscle cos you actually got off your butt and did something.

So, if you are chasing pumps, ditch the supps and have a decent meal 2 hours prior. Then cut your rest times to 15-30 seconds. Yes, you probably have to kick your ego in the balls and drop weight, but you will have a crazy pump.

Assuming that you are a typical gym rat and the pump is what you are looking for when doing biceps, try this:

Take about 10-15% off the weight you would normally use.
10 reps
30 sec rest
Repeat until you can't do another single good form rep. That may mean 20 sets. Do NOT cheat on the rest break. Be super strict. Use the stopwatch on your phone. Take 5 seconds off the rest period each week.
Bask in the glory of the pump.

After a couple of years, realise that it's just a pump and your arms still suck so start doing deadlifts. squats and overhead press.
