Can Reta be used on an elderly for weight management?

Today I manage to convince my mum who's 62 years old, obese, to finally get a doctor's prescription for Semaglutide to work with losing weight. I got the shock of my life though that a Wegovy injection kit 1IU total cost is $300 in Australia!!!!! That's literally scam!!!

Is there a coach who has experience in working with elderly in losing weight and require the use of GLP-1? Are there implications in using Reta on elderly even if we just apply similar minimum effective dose?

I tried to search evo forum but the most I could see is a 61 year old bodybuilder log which is abit too extreme for the average elderly. Also pretty rare to have any doctor prescribing reta since it's unapproved. The internet also lacks material in this regard.

Reta is magnitudes better then sema, a lot less side effects. Age is not a barrier and 62 is young, if she is obese it will most likely extend her life.

Diet still needs to change along with adding in exercise. If she takes Reta or Sema and doesn't change these 2 things, then after a while she will be at max dose and it will be barely working.

Start slow and low, even 500mcg to 1mg to start and see how she fills.

I'm currently using @RegenexPharma Reta and can vouch for its quality.

Yea Reta is like tonnes better than the 1st generation GLP-1.

Agree that in the end there needs to be habit changes in her life. That's what's great about GLP-1s though - that it makes that habit training sooooo much easier!

Honestly I was gonna stick to their supposed 0.25IU per week protocol for the time being. If she titrates well then I might increase the dosage myself.

What I kinda take personal out of all this is the fact that big pharmas are charging exorbitant prices for a potentially life changing medication and claiming that they're generational heroes. Whereas we in the dark underground are forced to hide the good yet "illegal" stuff from the public.

$300 for 1mg sema prescription vs $120-$180 10mg ugl but jano certified reta. Anyone can work out the big pharmas are draining the pockets of those in need.

A cartridge pen make life alot more easier and much more confident to use for the elders.

62 isn't elderly and that price is WAY less than the US charges

Will definitely need to titrate slower for her on reta. Good idea to take abit of caution on BP and HR monitoring.

Interesting note here that the wegovy pen ISN'T actually as easy to use. There were many steps involved for initial setup and if there were any mistakes along the way, it's quite possible to blow the initial $75 shot out by accident.

For an elderly without family assistance, I guess it's a necessary learning struggle.

You set the pen up for her. It only takes 5min man. Once it set all she needs to do is dial the dose with the dial on there, add the needle and pin. Trust me I have dealt with the elderly with this exact thing and They master it on first go. If it has to do with their health or weight they will jump hurdles.

Start low, I usually get them on 1.5mg twice a week. Go for a few weeks and if weight is dropping consistently dont titrate it. Leave it there for as long as it takes.

Then eventually increase it by 1-2mg and same thing. Run it few weeks till comes to a hault. I havent seen the need to increase past 6mg a week only odd occasions.

The lily protocol is pretty accurate but tinker around and plan it as mentioned above and works brilliant with great results.
