Fat and whey protein

I have recently cut a lot of weight, and am now really focusing on gaining muscle. I am starting to take whey protein. People have been telling me around the gym i am going to put on a lot of fat since if all of the protein isnt used up it turns to fat. Is this true? And how many times should i take why protein i was planning on taking it once before my workout and once after my workout.
 
Of your diet is good you don't need whey protein, but also if your caloric expenditure is higher than your intake, you won't get fat.

Any excess of calories is an issue.
 
^ This Protein alone is not gonna just turn in to fat. It's the overall caloric intake that's gonna eventually dictate whether you get fat or not.
 
if the whey protein you take contains a lot of sugar and hydrogenated oils, HFCS, etc. which most of them do, then yes you will gain fat. it is no different then eating ice cream

eat clean and workout consistent and you will gain good mass. eat poorly and you will gain fat. go to the supermarket and look at peoples carts and what they look like. you are what you eat
 
It comes down to where your calories and macros are at the end of the day. You should be counting everything and your diet should be controlled
