I have done local and states ones but you need to qualify for the nationals .......... if you are half descent the minimum are not set up too high to qualify for the nats...... there are natural power lifting organisations but most of the big ones .......... no they don't don't drug test you :)

Can you just enter for bench press?

Or do you have to do all 3 compound lifts?

They do strictly bench press comps yeah , you could well at that weight 👍🏼

You should definitely do it you'll do well especially as a novice ! , I'm not sure there always popping up/ certain gyms host them depends what state your in

Sorry I got excited, I love PL. I was actually looking to see what comps are coming up this year. Oppositeofnatty there is 2 novice ones in Sydney at PTCSydney one in August one in November. No federation membership required

I'm going to register for one or maybe both. See how fast my coach can get me up to speed in that time. Just need to decide what weight class as I'm right in the middle of 2

Not all times but majority of times they have only Bench Comps.......... there are quite a few associations in each state just a matter of google research

Highly recommend they are good fun
 
i was a power lifter for years got a few boxers or trophies out of it and some good friends. being short if u can get between 70 and 90 kgs u can go in and saluter a few corssfiters. biggest thing i can say is be ready to get hurt it happens more then u think even if u are just doing it for fun.

I think I'll eventually get into powerlifting..

My squats is terrible at 180kg

And deadlift is at 220kg

My Bench has always been really good..

My first year of training when I was 18yrs old at 62kg I remember I could get 2x100kg bench reps without spot.

Wish I had someone at my gym that could show me the ropes for powerlifting.


Next cycle I'll upload a photo or vid of me benching 190👌

Mate with that kind of bench once you bring your other lifts up you will be a force not to be messed with.

I would strongly suggest signing up to a dedicated powerlifting gym. Most of them will coach you just for membership fee's if they see potential which im sure they will.

Still waiting on it man, keep reading folks making gains on forums kinda making me depressed lol.
