gatorade while working out

I was wondering if having a 32 oz gatorade a day while working out is too much ,I have one a day when I go to the gym, sometimes I wonder if I'm putting too much sugar in my system and that could lead to extra calories and make gain weight? is gatorade healthy at all or it's just another drink like soda loaded with sugar? thank you.

It depends on how intense your workouts are. If you're going hard and sweating a lot, then the sucrose will be instant fuel and the sodium and electrolytes will replenish what was lost through sweat. I don't drink it because I find mixing my own powders to be much cheaper and give me more control over ingredient amounts, but I don't see anything deleterious about Gatorade or any other intra supp as long as you're burning it.

Have you ever read the ingredients in gatorade? It's literally a flavoured sugar and salt drink. It's basically the same thing as a soft drink but with sodium added.

Unless you are an extreme endurance athlete like a marathon runner, you do not need to be taking in carbohydrates during your workout. Just drink water.

Eat a proper pre-workout meal and eat a proper post workout meal. Leave the gatorade on the store shelf.

Gatorade is not a very good idea if you are paying attention to the carb intake and want to remain lean. There is a ton of sugar in it. If you want something that will be both cleaner, and just as tasty, take ordinary water and add there some BCAA. This way you will get less sugars, and there will be more benefits from drinking such a drink.

you don't need sugar while you workout

the guys who need sugar are endurance athletes running for 2 hours straight whose muscles are depleted

what you are actually doing here is feeding your brain with sugar when it doesn't really need it

plus gatorade is crap, the ingredients are garbage. gatorade is owned by pepsi. it is a sugary beverage marketed as a sport drink, you might as well drink sweetened ice tea.. would be no different

All you need while working out is water. I don't care how hard you train, there is no need to put sugar in your body. You get your calories in before training to fuel you through it and eat again after training.

If you're a marathoner and running in the heat, yes gatorade is good. For the gym, if you still want electrolytes without the sugars/calories try liquid electrolytes you spray into your water bottle. EnduroPacks is good. The product is all natural.

I'm torn on this but here's a thought or three:

Energy drinks have their place but it's a question of the time between your last meal and the workout. Back when I did a full time day job I found my late tea break (4.30pm) felt like too long between the snacks I could eat then and working out at 7pm. I preferred a large flapjack but a gatorade or similar would be ok in those circumstances.

32oz is way, way too much. 8oz will suffice. 99% never use much more than 400kcals a workout, most far, far less. I think there's a LOT more (I'd wanna double check) than that in 32oz. Buy the big one and save 3/4 of it and top the rest up with water and even then I doubt I'd drink 32oz of water a workout.

The time you workout is a part of the whole need and requirement. I (apart from one hours workout a week) train in the morning about an hour or two after breakfast. I don't need Gatorade I need coffee ha ha
