Most people i know take their dose in the evening, unless it causes issues, or they work a rotating shift. Then it doesnt matter as long as you try and take it the same time ed.
It all depends, I don't think there is really a true time to take it. Before bed makes sense, cause it'll give you good sleep, but some take it before or after a workout. I think you nailed it in your post....whatever is BEST for YOU.
