Rest days on gear

What is the proper amount of rest days per week while on gear? I was talking to a former mr. U and he said that lifting six days a week is way too much and I should only be lifting four.

It is very individual. It depends on your genetics, external stress in your life, diet, age etc. All those factors play a big role in your recovery from your workouts.

Most people will benefit from training 4-6 days per week, with 3-1 rest days off per week. I personally train in a 3 day on 1 day off fashion. On my off days I do cardio and abs.

Like Muskate said, it's will vary alot person to person.
By their Training Discipline (BB-er or Powerlifter).

I know when I Power-lifted, I usually went On 2, Off 1, On 2, Off 2.
If not I really got Burnt-out.

But now that I switched to more of a BB-er style.
I pretty much do what Muskate does, I do a Push-Pull Super-set on 3 days, then I'm off from Lifting 1 Day, and then repeat.
But I'll do Abs, and some Bodyweight work if I think it's needed.
If not, it's Abs and Cardio, and the Cardio can vary widely, from Hiit with Battle Ropes, Heavy Bag, Wind Sprints.
I can't really just sit around on my day off from lifting while On-Cycle.
But I do keep it Short and Intense for Abs and Cardio.............................................. JP
P.S.
You really need to Track your Workouts, to see how you're doing.
There's No 1 Correct way, as we are All Individuals, and respond differently to Stimuli.

I workout Mon-Fri, and will go to the gym Saturday if I can fit it in. With summer here living on the beach weekends tend to be busy with family and friends, so weekdays are a must for me.

Being on gear I'm always wanting to hit the gym, hardly a day where I feel burnt out but if I do I will rest instead. My workouts usually last 1hr.

in my younger guys I would workout 5-6X a week no problem. 15-18 sets per session, + 35-40 minute cardio.. going at probably 70% each day.

but now that I am older my body cannot handle that type of volume so it is cut back a bit. I have found my body tolerates 3-4X per week but I can go more sets each day. but on rest days I am still doing something active.. I cannot just sit on my ass all day watching tv

keep in mind a lot of that also comes with having a family and full time career once you are older too.. big difference between being 20 and being 40 in terms of where you are in life and your priorities .. if you are putting weight training over your family then you got issues

Seems the consensus is, to listen to your body and take rest days when your body needs it. Because it is all dependant on your diet, your sleep, how long and intense your workouts are, etc...

Like for me im only at the gym an hour a day, as opposed to a "bodybuilder" whom is prob there like 4 hours a day. I'm in no way destroying my muscles in any way close to what a bodybuilder would be doing. So I can go to the gym more often. But if your training so hard that it's your job, and your being dragged out because your so spent then yea more rest time is needed.

I think the average person can go to the gym daily.

Personally I train 5 times a week, gear or no gear

Same for me. I trust my body. If it is feeling tired and fatigued I take an extra day off. If, even after that, I don't feel right, I may even take a week off. Typically I wont take off an entire week while on cycle but the point is to learn to trust your body. If you train 5 days per week and don't feel fatigued then you are good. If you do feel fatigued, then go down to 4 days.

Like I said , listen to your body and take a rest day if your really spent and you feel you need it. The point of being on gear is that you recover faster and able to workout that body part that much sooner. if your diet is in check and your rest/sleep schedule is on check then for the averge guy on gear that hits the gym an hour or two a day there is no reason to really not be at the gym daily. Just make sure your rotating your body parts. I know way too many guys who don't even workout their legs, they just look silly.

U only do 5 days a week because I'm just an average guy on gear who has a regular job and my weekends are busy with family and friends. or else I'd be there daily. On weekends I do still ride my mountain bike 7 miles a day.

There is no simple answer to this question, as there are many factors involved. It will depend on your genetics, on the sort of gear you are using, your training experience, and much more. Usually, it is best to take at least a couple of days off every week, but it will also depend on how you feel. Therefore, the best thing is to listen to your body, and act accordingly.

Too many factors are involved.

You have someone like Juan Moral that trains weight trains 6 times per week, 2 times per day + 1 cardio session per day. That’s easily 3 hours+ of training per day 6 times a week. Then you have someone like Dextor Jackson that trains 5 times per week, 1 hour weight training session with some like cardio. Both are top tier pros, both train completely different.

Anyone rest on orals at all on non training days and find they can run longer?

I know it messes with stabilitity but when on long esters that's no issue forme
