Shoulder pain

Hey guys looking for some opinions on some pain I’m having in my right shoulder. On Sunday I worked up to a heavy triple on bench. I hit 275 3 times racked the weight and finished my work out, which was a push day on a push, pull, legs split. I had no discomfort at all that day. Sunday I did wake up because I rolled onto my right arm kinda weird and my middle, ring, and pinky fingers along with the outside of my hand and my entire arm. I woke up Monday with a sharp pain in my shoulder. It’s definitely under the muscle in the joint. However I’m experiencing no decrease in range of motion or weakness in my shoulder and yesterday it popped when I raised my arm above my head at work. When that happened it felt like some pressure was taken off my shoulder and now it’s just sore.

I think it’s a combination of the heavy lifting that day and sleeping on it weird. I have adjusted my workout plan for the week dropping weight on certain exercises and cutting others out completely to allow my shoulder to recover. Just wanted to get some opinions and ideas from others who may have experienced similar issues.

So the awkward sentence in there about Sunday was supposed to read that Sunday night I woke up and those three fingers, the outside of my hand, and my entire arm were numb.

1. you are doing heavy benching
2. it is your right shoulder

I don't need to be a doctor to tell you that you have a torn rotator cuff.. very common injury.. i had the same thing

if you keep lifting you will tear it more and more and eventually need surgery. you are going to have to stop lifting with pushing exercises and other things like pullups for a while. you also should work on mobility exercises. check youtube to learn them. i wasted money on MRI's, PT's, etc. when all i had to do was rest and work on mobility. i'm back benching again but can't go heavy possibly ever

I’ll be going to get checked either Monday or Tuesday to confirm but right now it appears to be an impingement. All pain is gone and my range of motion is good. Skipped shoulders and chest on both push days in the gym this week. Won’t go heavy again until I get the ok from my doctor. Frustrating as I am working towards a powerlifting meet next year. But plenty of time to recover and adjust accordingly.

Definitely rest it for a week or so. At least until the pain goes away. If it is not getting better then have it looked at. It wont hurt to see a doctor anyways to be safe but at least be resting it at this point.

I’m definitely going to get it looked at. I have learned the hard way in the past that ignoring things is not good. Have the scar on my right knee from surgery to prove it.

yes, most of us have that happen once and we learn from it and dont do it again... im still hard headed at times but im FAR quicker to get things checked and rested now than when i was younger... you just end up making things worse more times than not

I understand how expensive a good sports therapist is and not wanting to waste money but getting a professional to take a look at it is always worth the investment. You can VERY easily turn a mild injury into a serious one without getting it professionally looked at.
