I am surprised that these questions have you questioning your training and all your hard work up till now. I know for me I started exercise to improve my health and physical condition. That soon changed into training more for bodybuilding affects. I do it cause I enjoy it and can see what can happen if I really focus and put all my efforts into it. I find it rather fulfilling.

I do it with steroids to progress further than what I can do naturally. And I feel I am doing it rather safely, with minimal risk. And in terms of money, people can waste there money in many ways, cars, women, phones, travel, drugs & booze. I choose to use my money to improve myself, and I don't see it as a waste of money.

Just my 2 cents.

Bodybuilding above all (if you aren't competing), should be a Competition with One's Self.

When I originally started on AAS, I was lifting Competitively, and was looking to get to the next level.
But I had already been in the Gym almost 8 years Consistently.
And had been Competing for almost 6 years.

To answer the question, "Why put your Body at risk".
If done Properly, the Risk is Minimal, and the Personal Rewards can be Great.
It's when Guys that are Too Young, or do Excessive Amounts of Gear.
That you will hear the Horror Stories.
There's plenty of Retired Pro's from the Late 60's and early 70's.
That are still around, and doing well, Health Wise................................... JP
P.S.
Life is Risk, so do what you can to Minimize it, by Educating yourself.

Hell, you can get Killed, Crossing the Street, so does that mean we shouldn't do it.
No, you Pay Attention, and Look Both Ways.

people who ask this question are just lazy bums who think eating what they want and never exercising is an acceptable lifestyle

i've been asked these questions a lot in my life and I always just ignore them because they are stupid questions. if you really don't understand why someone wants to be healthy, look good, and be vibrant then you are hopeless

I always respond with the same response: "Go lift some weights and then you will see why, you can also thank me later ;)"

The thing with me is I can't understand why you didn't know what to reply. You've competed, your avatar shows a physique, you ought to be able to go 'this' and point at your body.
Same here, was odd that he didn't have answers or questioned himself......

he is young though.

and when you are young you seek people more experienced with that question. i think it is a good question to ask, and i stand by the fact that you should ignore negative people

Well said, stimy.
I have a brother-in-law who finds it to be "obvious that use steroids," and that the use of steroids "will eventually catchup to 'Eddie.'" While allowing my brother-in-law to believe whatever it is that he wants to believe, I find it to be obvious that he "fuels" his body with garbage, including hard liquor on a daily basis, and that the roughly 35% body fat that he carries will "serve" to kill him long before I die. Only time will tell for sure.

Ticktock, ticktock, ticktock, ticktock...

even if you die first you still lived a more vibrant and healthy life. you didn't feel like shit 24/7.

those types of people feel like shit all day, they eat crap and feel like crap. they drink alcohol to dull their brains away from the sad reality

To me it is just a hobby. Why do people have hobbies? Because they enjoy doing something. I cant see an issue with a hobby that allows you to look and feel good.
Yes Matt same as me if I dont doing this then definitly would be a alcoholic with lots of bad habit bodybuilding give me everything and that is why I stick to it in till my death

Yes! Yes! Enthusiastically yes! Were I to be able to live for an additional year for each time someone has said something to me like "We're all going to die. So why worry about fitness?," I would live to be a very, very old man.
My response to that claptrap is always something to the tune of, "Yes, we're all going to die. But the question is, when will that be, and how will you feel in the interim?"
