I am going to write a bit about my first cycle which wasn’t actually a cycle but me being put on trt. The point of this story is about how little you might need for your first time to make great gains.
I started working out one month before turning 16, so May 1986!! I was 5’6” 116 pounds. I was completely anti drug back then and was 140 in a year and a half. I am sure I would have made better gains if I had the internet back then but oh well.
I also got my first girlfriend at 16 so that didn’t help the focus, first taste of that stuff and the little head runs your life from then on!
Graduated high school at 140, took the summer off, then off to USAF basic training in September 1988. Went in at 140, out 6 weeks later at 138! On to 6 months of tech school and the chow hall food and easy schedule had me at 160 in one month!!
Then I stayed there until the year I turned 24.
I decided to just focus on eating and working out when not at work. I was still in the Air Force but in Korea and not deploying for a year. 160 to start, 180 a year later.
But once back to my real, deploying job, back down to 165 within 3 months!
So I stayed there until the first part of 2001. Wife and kids at this point and they were thinking I had depression until one doctor tested my testosterone. Came back at 199!
Was sent to a urologist, tested again at 190. He gave me a shot of hcg, tested again a week later, testosterone was 248!
He said it should have kicked me up much higher, so starting the first week of June 2001, when I was turning 31, I was put on 300mg of testosterone every two weeks.
I was weighing around 168 and by September I was 190!!! Didn’t change anything, same workouts, same diet, just suddenly got bigger and stronger!
All those years I never squatted over 365, benched over 275, or deadlifted over 405! By October I had benched 325, squatted 435, and deadlifted 510!
Of course I stayed at that level the next 4 years, until I got hurt in a bmx crash! Tore my left patella tendon and right shoulder labrum!
I never got my strength back to where it was but getting hurt showed me you don’t need to go heavy to get bigger. I have tried deca and different levels of testosterone since then but mostly just pumping workouts now.
Last summer I hit 218 body weight and 18” arms finally.
But this year, since January, life has been crazy, and I sit around 194 with my workouts very inconsistent. I hope things settle down soon.
The point of this long post is, if your testosterone levels are low, to mid level, just adding a dose like I was on can make a huge difference your first time on!
These days I take 50-60mg twice a week with a 30 gauge 1/2” needle. So much more enjoyable!
