Nick Walker is an up-and-coming professional bodybuilder from New Jersey. He is best known for his incredible size which has earned him the nickname "The Mutant".
His current stats are 5'7'' and a whopping 255 pounds! He is picked by some to be a future Mr. Olympia champion and has already cracked the top 5 and he isn't even 30 years old yet.
Walker has talked about his childhood where he was molested and due to that was anti-social and quiet around people. This led to him isolating himself and being considered aloof and also got him involved in drugs and alcohol. Living in New Jersey he played mostly soccer, football and did some wrestling. However, his favorite sport of all was baseball and he was pretty good at it from a young age. Once he became a teenager though he started to gravitate towards weight training which is also something his father was into. By the time he was out of high school he was already a staggering 235+ pounds at just 5'7''!
Walker wasted no time competing and hired a coach who had him follow a strict diet which shrank him 40 some pounds ahead of a competition. This experience turned out to be a disaster and a learning experience for him. The next year at the Eastern USA he got 3rd place in New York. At 19 years old he was 2nd place at the Teenage Nationals.
By 2019, he was gaining a lot of attention for his incredible size and thickness and he finished 2nd at the North American Championships.
The next year was a rough year for bodybuilding as the pandemic hit in 2020. His gym was shut down and reopened several times. During this time he was able to focus on improving his physique and gear up for Mr. Olympia. He earned a spot at the Olympia by winning the New York Pro after a 4th place finish at the Chicago Pro.
2021 has been a great year for Walker as he won the Arnold Classic then finished a surprising 5th at Mr. Olympia. There is no telling how well Walker will do over the next few years considering he is still only 27 years old.
Walker has a following on Instagram of 700K people.
He is a rep for a company called reviveMD and also for Raw nutrition. His social media is an assortment of training videos, pictures of himself, and pictures of him with other bodybuilders. Judging by the photos it is safe to assume you don't want to run into this guy in a dark alley as he is a very large individual.
Walker has been labeled by his coach as a generational talent, which means a person like this only comes along once every 20-30 years. His work ethic has been compared to Jay Cutler which is a huge compliment. Walker has some impressive all-time lifts including a 700 pound squat and a 650-pound deadlift to his resume. If not for bodybuilding he would have easily been a force as a powerlifter too. Here is a video of him doing 225-pound dumbbell presses in each hand! Keep in mind most gyms don't even have more than 100-pound dumbbells in the first place.
Here is a video of his training his legs
A very large individual like Walker needs a lot of food, that is simply the nature of the game. He typically eats 6 meals a day minimum. His favorite foods are berries, rice, turkey, steak, beans, chicken, and nut oils. He also drinks a blend of greens, collagen, and glutamine as a shake first thing in the morning.
Walker has an opportunity to possibly win multiple Mr. Olympia's if he can get his mass under control, meaning focus more on cutting down and bodybuilding than trying to ego lift in videos. I also worry about the impact of his heavy lifting on his shoulders, discs, and joints and if he will resort to taking painkillers to manage the pain instead of having rest days.
He also has a chance to bring in a lot of young bodybuilders into the sport and lifestyle and I hope he can be a good role model to many 20 somethings, who currently and in the future, will look up to him with envy.
It is likely Walker started using steroids at a very young age, after all, what 17 year old is 5'7'' and weighs 230 some pounds, while still being sub 8% body fat? It simply isn't possible unless you are using steroids combined with incredible genetics. We can speculate he ran this type of cycle leading up to 2021 Mr. Olympia:
- 1200mgs a week Testosterone Propionate, stopped 5 weeks ahead of competition
- 1000mgs Trenbolone Hex, raised to 1500mgs a week 4 weeks ahead of competition
- 1200mgs Deca Durabolin lowered 4 weeks ahead of competition
