GNC worthwhile?

Rich5a

New member
GNC is near my home and I have bought some products and even protein powder. I no-longer use their powder but sometimes use other GNC brand supplements. Whats the consensus?

If you don't mind paying $70 for a $15 item. I use nutraplanet or tfsupplements. May have to wait 3-4 days but I like saving $ more than instant gratification of going into an expensive supplement shop.

I remember buying some things a complete nutrition one time...then I found bodybuilding.com, order pretty much everything. Every once in a while amazon might be a little cheaper. But I think any where online is cheaper than gnc or any other store. Avoid them like the plague!

Bodybuilding.com is a great site for supplements. They'll get ripped to shreds here I'm sure but I've always been very happy with the prices and quality of their 'house' brand. But they carry other brands also.

BBC.com for my preworkout, protein and amnios plus I love the free shakers

It depends on what you're looking for, and where you are.
If you have a Vitamin Shoppe near by, go there, (just be sure to check Online 1st, and then ask the Store to match the Price, they will).
If you can wait a couple of days.
Prosource.net - Great Prices - carries All the Major Brands - also has their own Brand, which is All Pharmaceutical Grade...................... JP

I've been a DPS Nutrition guy for a while. Site isn't as slick as BB.com but you'll save some cash. And also avoid some of the BS... "We 'Mirin?!" Who's idea was THAT!? And has ANYONE ever said that out loud? Try it. I'll wait. Stupid as shit, right?!

Seriously though, shop around some and save the cash.

Please dont go to GNC. Lets just say that my last experience wasnt worth while.
Had an employee tell me to buy Celltech because the "FDA said that it would soon be pulled off the shelves do to Ronnie Coleman and other BB pros using it". Said it's "basically steroids".

GNC is a franchised public corporation.. when you buy something there you aren't spending money on a supplement. you are spending money on franchise fees, their rent, their employees, their directors and overpaid officers, and their other overhead.

any product that was good is going to cost you way more... I never go to that place.

Right -

You would think the internet would have made all if these brick and mortar type supp establishments obsolete by now. Maybe many folks are still intimidated by online shopping? Or may be just too lazy, or too dumb? Maybe all of the above.

I'd be interested to see the demographic profiles of gnc's customers.

Yeah I use vitamin shoppe for creatine, glutamine, support supps and an occasional pre-workout. They have decent prices. I used pro source as well like 5 years ago and they have nice selection.

Every time I have shopped at gnc I feel like I have been raped when I leave. And their salespeople are way to aggressive in my opinion. I don't need their advice on buying supps.

I buy my supplements on-line but not my bulk protein. I guess Ill make the move since they piss me off.

Lol the worse part of gnc is when some fat lady try's to give you advice and talks about supplements as if she took them before lol!

One of my favorite ever GNC tips was to a dude who looked like he'd fall for it, "But dude, Nitro-tech protein had NITROGEN in it!"

Debated explaining amine groups but just laughed A&F walked out.

I only go to GNC when I'm completely out of something (say protein) and I can't get it anywhere else at the time. It's a last resort because it's so expensive.

if you want protein why not go to the supermarket and buy real food that doesn't come in a tub?

I would rather give target some of my money than gnc. I wouldnt use them if they were the only place. I'd rather go without some thing than have to get raped buying it.

Damn, you must really hate GNC if you will go to Target. Here in Oklahoma we call Target "Fancy Wal Mart".

the CEO made 2M in salary last year plus 16M in stock options http://finance.yahoo.com/q/pr?s=GNC+Profile

its a corporation, its not some haven for red blooded bodybuilders to shop at. its not like you walk into their corporate office and see a shredded up dude there, their CEO is 61 years old and probably never lifted a weight in his life

haha thats funny shit, definitely true tho.

oklahoma has a discount sport nutrition and its a hell of alot better than gnc, but anything online is better than store bought just for the savings

I like Vitamin Shoppe and I usually get it two days. You can shop around online and do better, but Vitamin Shoppe absolutely kills GNC price wise.

Sort of the same scenario with Needto, he made a lot of money in the fitness world, and looked like he never stepped foot in a gym. LMAO. P.T. Barnum said, "there is a sucker born every minute."

Hmm peptides or bcaa's... Creatine mono and protein isolate katbolyn if u want other than that go spend ur money on more growth

Lol, yeah, that's a good point.

That said, I put my protein in my oatmeal in the morning. I don't have much time or appetite, so it works for me.

I think the Vitamin Shop has better products and is cheaper.

Make sure that you check the Online Price of All Products at Vitamin Shoppe if you're going to the Store.
The Online Price is Cheaper than the Store Price.
If you ask them to Match the Online Price, they will, but you Have to Ask them............................ JP

GNC is expensive but their whey protein seems too be the best tasting

Let me ask you this.
What do you think is giving that Protein its Taste.
Answer is it's Acesulfame Potassium and Sucralose.
Bad Sweeteners - Ace - Processed with a known Carcinogen (Methylene Chloride) 200 times sweeter than Sugar/Can lead to Hypoglycemia.
Sucralose is Processed with Chlorine and will Kill your Gut Flora/Shrinking of the Thymus Gland, an Immune System Regulator.
Also, the 1st Ingredient is Whey Concentrate, which is only 70 to 85% Protein, and has Lactose in it.
That's what's in your GNC Protein, your Killing yourself Drinking that Shit.
Also, they're Raping you to Purchase it.

Find a Whey Isolate, which is 90 to 94% Protein and has no Lactose in it, and is Sweetened with Stevia.
There's Plenty out there.
Try MuscleFeast.com for an Excellent Whey, either not Sweetened or only Sweetened with Stevia.
The Prices are Extremely Good, and they're from Ohio................................. JP
P.S.
They carry a lot of other Products, that are All Pharmaceutical Grade.
Everything is made in Small Batches, not by the Ton.

great post. if it tastes good that is probably a red flag in the supplement business.. I actually saw a popular youtube guru's supplement line had HFCS in it, what a fucking crook.

Half of the products bloat me intra workout like bcaa creatine and sugar mixes

Great info. I'll definitely pick up some whey from them when I need it.

On a side note, I saw that they sell lever belts for $60 cheaper than I bought mine for....

I've been using this Company since right after they Started the Business.
It was Started by a Dad, for His BB Son, to cut down on the Cost of Buying Supplements................................ JP
P.S.
That's what 1st got me Interested in them, and the Rest, so they say is History.
Prices have always been Extremely Good, and All the Protein is Kosher (as in adhering to very strict practices).

Personally I'm an online deal hunter GNC is over priced unless you know owner and they price match for you IMO

all the employees at the gnc near me are overweight and telling you about all the benefits of the gnc brand items. I only go cause it is on a military base and way cheaper than civilian gncs

I have to echo what many have mentioned about Bodybuilding.com
Great company with great prices. Fast shipping, usually at my door 2-3 days after ordering. Email and inquire about a 10% discount, more than not they were more than happy to oblige. Wrong order, different item shipped or for example no wisk ball in the blender bottle and a phone call and I had a new blender bottle without question. Orders over $75 gets you a free gift. Orders over $125 and incrementally greater will garner a better free item. Lastly, search free sample and you have the option to select 2 free items per order. They usually offer good protein packets which I find convenient and clean to take to work. Packaging is never an issue.
I avoid GNC, wont belabor anyone with further thoughts. If Im in a pinch Vitamin Shoppe is my go too spot.
Just my 2 cents

Never go to GNC. Sometimes they have sales and make you think you are getting a good deal, but you can find the same thing on the internet for less and get more for your dollar. Just order online and save your gas and time. Also, there is always some fat guy or girl working trying to tell you what to take!

Id rather put my money into more peptides I mean if u need preworkout or bcaa's just get em online

Bodybuilding.com is definitely the way to go for protein powder and other supplements. GLC is always more expensive, sometimes by quite a bit. BB orders usually get to my house in 2 days.

In regards to the protein, Dymatize makes a really good natural whey with nothing artificial and sweetened with stevia. ON has one but doesn't taste as good to me.

If you don't mind waiting, stalking slickdeals will net you great deals. Picked up 6 lbs ON Gold Standard for 42$ shipped several months ago and all expire on 12/2015. You have to be fast otherwise the deals expire/go out of stock.
If you're a member, Costco has some fairly affordable protein from reputable brands (such as ON) as well.

Hell no GNC is not worth your money...not one damn penny!
If you don't mind waiting a few days (usually within 12 to 14 days) then I would say DPS Nutrition or Supplement Warehouse.
Been a customer of both and always get good service and products.
SW is a little pricey on shipping compared to DPS but SW has price matching -5%.
So if you find a lower price they knock off 5% from their competitors price and that's what you pay, plus they usually throw in some free stuff as well.
That has worked out for me on more than one order, however I just ordered some stuff and this time DPS beat them because of shipping.
So check the web and STAY THE HELL OUT OF GNC...and NEVER BUY THE GNC BRAND STUFF...total waste of money!
Just my opinion, not a rep of either or anywhere else for that matter.

GNC sucks, way over priced. just google what your looking for. Allstarheath usually has good prices and cheap flat rate shipping.

I'm with everyone else here. GNC is overpriced as shit and half the sales people in there know nothing about supplements. I seen some horrible salesmen but GNC is definitely up there for the worst. Pretty much sugarcoat the shit out of anything as long as your the sucka who will overpay for it. I'm a nutraplanet, tfsupplements or lockout supplements shopper.

I get preworkout from there but only because it's a privately owned one and they have better prices. Plus my friend CaptainAmerica works there so I get free samples lol

Ask me about Venom Gator Labs! "Feel The Surge!"

I'll stop in GNC on occasion if I need something right away. For example if I need to go on an unexpected trip out of town and I want to take my preworkout mix and protein with me, I'll pick up some individual C4 samples and a few individual MRP packets. I really try not to get on a plane with unmarked baggies of white powder in my luggage. Lol.
They're typically way overpriced, but we're not their target demographic. I'm reminded of that every time I go in and there's an employee half my size but overly eager to school me on what to take to "get big". If they got points for enthusiasm they'd do ok.

not a fan of gnc, my daughter worked for them and they treat their people like dogs,,,its all about selling their own name brand rather than seel what is best fot the customers,,

LOLOL!! So true!

The VENOMpharma courses through my veins daily... Need a reference?

Meh, GNC is usually over price and over rated, but Ill go in once in a while if they got a good sale on something I need.

I have to say GNC carries my new multi vitamin which is nothing but quality which surprised me to say the least. Not sure how much they charge though.

I actually really like there protien however everything in that store is so over priced..To be honest if your looking to buy sups in bulk id consider bodybuilding.com. However, if your really looking for good deals on sups and your looking for a specific product I use ebay a LOT! u can usually get free shipping and Im overseas and most sellers ship out of country.

bro if there is a vitamine shoppe by your i would rather go there if you cant wait a couple days for the supps to show up from a online site. GNC is stupid over prices. i too fell victome to their stores i lived in a small ass town and the only supplement store was gnc that was still a hour away from my town i would go in their and spend a shit load of money on muscle tech product from cell tech nitro tech to their pre workout. only thing gnc ever did for me was give me a nice ego stroke when would walk in and the guy in the back of the counter would say wow i can really see that muscle tech product working for you lol fuck exactly what i wanted to hear when i was 18 lol now i know better well i would like to be leave i do :o
