This is one of many reasons you should stick to REAL FOOD vs. powders. you simply do not know what goes into a powder, but you will know what is in single high quality whole foods. example the only ingredient in an organoic sweet potato, grassfed beef, and organic brocolli is what they are. but with powders and bars you have no clue

Protein supplements are wildly popular, but CR’s tests of 23 products found that more than two-thirds of them contain more lead in a single serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day
Protein powders still carry troubling levels of toxic heavy metals, according to a new Consumer Reports investigation. Our latest tests of 23 protein powders and ready-to-drink shakes from popular brands found that heavy metal contamination has become even more common among protein products, raising concerns that the risks are growing right alongside the industry itself.
and more lip service from these companies who claim "we tested our products" blah blah blah. no they didn't. they could not care less if they poison their people.
the top 2 worst were
Naked Nutrition that had 1572% lead per serving and
Huel black edition 1288% lead. absolutely bonkers.
garden of life and Momentous were the next 2 around 500%. you might as well go eat paint chips if that is what you are looking for.
also protein bars were just as bad if not worse and contained heavy metals, pesticides, contaminants like BPA, and crazy amounts of arsenic. the 5 worst were:
- Garden of Life Organic Shake & Meal Replacement Chocolate Cacao Raw Organic Meal
- Nature's Best Isopure Creamy Vanilla Zero Carb
- Quest Chocolate Milkshake Protein Powder
- 360Cut Performance Supplements 360PRO Whey Chocolate Silk Premium Whey Protein
- Vega Sport Plant-Based Vanilla Performance Protein
- Cliff bars (which i used to eat a lot of back in the day) also contained high levels of arsenic, especially the ones that had brown rice syrup. even their Clif kid Zbars that i see parents giving to their kids SMH.
I've always been an advocate for knowing what goes into your body. so its important to avoid these powders and bars. stick to REAL FOOD and prep your own food so you know what is going in them. and yes QUALITY matters. the hypocrisy of people out there on nutrition boggles my mind. they won't take this medication or that food, but they have no issues loading their bodies full of these toxic chemicals from these fake foods. don't be one of those hypocrites and take control of your nutrition
a simple solution is this. MAKE YOUR OWN protein bars!!
its easy to do.
get a flat baking pan
add chopped raw nuts, dried fruit, raw almond butter, and raw honey. you can also add granola too if you are okay with digesting it or things like raw oats. and then mix them up a bit and press them into the pan. then put in the fridge for a few hours. then you can cut them up into squares and now you have good quality protein bars that you know are good to go
