Approved Log My Cut Cycle Log: Road to 200lbs or less! My first cut ever.

I was lifting heavy for awhile. Took time off from heavy squats and did unilaterally work for 3 months. Now I am back doing squats again. My right leg joint at the hip seems to be tight and hurts. I am not sure if it's tight or not. It feels like a tightness pain. I am stretching like I have always have to prime before squats. Not sure what is going on. Let me hear all y'all's insights on this?

I forgot to add the pic!

yeah those machines are expensive to maintain. they break ALOT. my grandpa used to own an arcade as a kid and it was tough cause they broke all the time
That's pretty cool but sorry it was such a hard business for him. You know what's I like is the arcade bars. They have all the old arcade video games and they have a bar. You get to drink craft beers and play the old games I grew up on and the pin ball machines. I enjoy those.

Yeah. The pinball machines are always fun.

Tuesday:
No training, Monday at work I step on two nails that went through my shoe into my foot. My foot hurt to much to squat, leg press, and calf raises.
Diet: daily supplements and meds
Breakfast: 6 eggs, 60 gram protein shake, a couple of biscuits.

Dinner: 14 ounces of chicken breast and potatoes.

Yeah, I am good. My wife always says if I don't come home bleeding I wasn't working. I don't like wearing boots I like to wear tennis shoes. I have boots but the steel is just in the toe. It wouldn't have saved me from the nails going through the bottom It was an accident. It happens sometimes. Just part of my work. I should not have left that board that way and have flipped it over. It still hurts when I walk but was able to do my leg workout today. I pushed through.

I understand, it's like common on the job :D

The key to nail in the foot is you don't take the shoe or boot off until you get home. Maybe not so much with the shoes but boots more specific. You don't want your foot to swell and then not be able to get your boot back on to finish the day. Plus you just get all the blood in your sock.

Wednesday:
Training: see attached foot alstill hurts a little bit got them squats in.
No cardio
Diet:
Meal after training: 6 eggs and 60 gram protein shake.
Dinner: a little corn, piece of bread, some red potatoes, and 1/2 rack of ribs.
Dessert: banana pudding

Construction is. I was teaching my son a few days ago how to receive long boards out the back of the table saw. It got dangerous as he would pull the board against the blade and make it bind.
its one of those jobs better be sober for or injury @kcates

Well, there are tons who drink and do drugs daily in the construction industry and function. I have also seen on one of my jobs the cabinet guys smoked weed in the truck before starting at 8 am. Then watched the green horn go and cut 3 fingers off in the table saw. Felt sorry for him but glad he wasn't my employee. I personally when younger use to smoke some but mainly would use Percocets on the job because they would give you energy to keep working. This was back before energy drinks were like they are today. Luckily I used a lot of drugs in my past but never got addicted to any of them. I have been labeled by a psychiatrist as obsessive compulsive so when I do something I do it to the extreme. I am just blessed I never got addicted to the drugs or alcohol. The first time I felt addiction was coming off the caffeine recently. Just now over 2 months later I am not thinking about it daily. I did get addicted to the drug dealing lifestyle making easy money and blowing it knowing I will get more tomorrow. That was hard to walk away from but prison gets old.

Drugs and alcohol are a road to nowhere sadly - seen many people with plenty of promise and bright futures fuck their lives.

It was very rampant in the industry for a long time. You would get hurt, typically pull your back out. Then doctor would put you on hydrocodone. It would take the pain away and give you energy. Then u could keep working. In construction typically if u don't work your not making money. A lot of guys then drink after work as well. You just get use to them and addicted to needing them to keep working and partying at night. Then oxycodone came out so a lot went to that because they needed something stronger. Then they did away with them and you went to the roxies. Of course here in Florida there was pill mills everywhere so it was so easy to get them. I use to buy 1000 pill wholesale bottles of Percocets and sell them. The energy part was crazy. I will tell this story about my friend to explain why they worked for the trades. One day we are on the job. It's a non air conditioned jobsite middle of summer in Florida. My friend is exhausted sitting on a bucket a 2 pm in the middle of the jobsite, looks like death. We give him some Percocets and after that he is zipping around talking about are we going to do overtime today. That's why we liked the ball scratchers because you could get a second wind and keep working. I saw a lot of guys get a addicted and it all go down hill from there. Some eventually died and some are on fentanyl now. The opioid pandemic was bad for the trades. I am in remorse about it now because I sold that garbage and help hurt a lot of people because I was greedy and wanted to make a few dollars.

Yeah I think drinking, drugs and poor diet are pretty common in our construction industry (Australia).

American construction the same! I am curious what do y'all think of our accents? I hear y'all's it warms my heart and puts a smile on my face. Y'all could tell me the world is ending and I be happy. I had neighbors at my old house and they were Bosnian and they sounded like they were mad at each other when they talked in there language and then they would all start laughing. They had a porch outside our bedroom window and they would sit out there and drink and chat late at night. My wife and I would listen until we fell asleep. They were awesome neighbors. We always thought they sounded so angry but it was just the way the language was spoken. It's cool how different cultures are so unique in subtle ways.

That's the typical path I heard from injuries or surgeries to addiction. I had a client post dental surgery addicted to vics and later heroin! horribel stuff @kcates

I know all about opiates giving you energy and masking the pain. One of the guys I trusted to get mine off of was in construction and they were all popping percs.

It is. I dwell on how many people I have hurt selling them drugs now looking back. It's something I got to live with the rest of my life the guilt and shame. I use to tell myself if it wasn't me it was going to be somebody so I better just get that money. Now I feel guilt for contributing to wrecking people's lives.

You cannot change the past but you are changing who you are today. :D @kcates Staying stuck in guilt keeps you in the same place, while using that regret as fuel to help others turns it into something good.

You already repented and are living different now, that matters more than what you did back then. As a past alcoholic myself I hurt many people in my life, but now I try to help as many as I can here in the EVO family and that is how I make peace with it. Let the guilt remind you where you came from, not define who you are now.

I relate to this a lot. Been living with the wake of destruction I left behind me for close to thirty years now. Only thing you can do is what you are doing, and that’s improving your life and lifting the people in your life up. I see people from my past and many are doing very well, like us. When I see that someone finally died or see that they’ve stagnated or steady declined it’s painful. But you were hurting yourself as much as them or more, remember that. You were in that life with them. Yes you profited, but also you did not. Even what you enjoyed from the lifestyle was affecting you negatively to a huge degree. And you found out the hard way what you were doing to your “friends” and your family and you stopped. I have felt a lot of shame for what I put my family through when I thought that I needed what I was doing, I was being selfish because I was morally wounded and so were you. Rice healed significantly but there scars will always remind us.

You are correct though, if not you, it will be someone else you were also part of the pain - as you are going through now, but could of ended up in long prison sentences or dead, its a losing game

This week I am cramming work to leave to go to my son's Marine Boot camp graduation. I am trying to get a job to a stopping point and I have another one starting as soon as I get back. Then yesterday my mother inlaw had a slab leak so I had to go start dealing with that. Tore out the wall behind the toilet, tile floor, toilet, and the other side of the wall had to tear out a cabinet, dishwasher and drywall. I had to chip out the slab to get below the concrete slab to find the leaking copper pipe. Found it. Lost a day yesterday that I was suppose to be on the job I am on today. I was working Sunday because we went out of town last week for Thanksgiving. Then today got to go back to my mother inlaws and put the plumbing back together. Then when we get back next week I will have to start a new job, work on the current job, and put my mother inlaws house back together. When it pours in Florida it turns into a hurricane for sure.

@kcates that is good you did that leak job. had she hired one of these crooked contractors in FL that are all over the place they would have charged her tens of thousands probably

Oh I know. I am a contractor in Florida. I have 10 hours into now. I still got a ton more to get her back a hundred percent. I got to do tile work, framing, drywall, concrete, more plumbing and build two cabinets using the old face frame so she didn't have to buy all new cabinets to match. It's going to take a lot of my spare time up for awhile. It's my wife's mom got to help her out and she's on a fixed budget so it's really even more helpful for her that I help her out.

Life. Pre show yesterday the lights inb the hallway outside the office shorted via the switch due to a leak. We've almost certainly got localized flooding today

This log got prison scary there for a minute talking about taking the bbc! I am going back to my log for a little bit where it's safe from the bbc

Dang, that's a bummer. I bet fixing leaks around that big of a place is not an easy task. Hope it all works out well for you. If I was close I would come give you a hand.

orry that BBC post was suppose to go to Harley guy and CEO last night. I was tired and must have forgot to hit post. Lol

Lol, I am hiding in my log for awhile so it don't catch me and stab me in the back. Now I am watching my back from CEO and Bodymonster!
Watch @BodyMonster34
He will shank you with that monster in a second and then send his wife after you, thats when you will be in real trouble

It's my wife's mom got to help her out and she's on a fixed budget so it's really even more helpful for her that I help her out.
yeah an AC dude came to my mom's and claimed there was a leak in the wall, he wanted to charge 8K lol. i had another guy come out who literally fixed the issue for $200. its disgusting the way they prey on people. to them its 'business'

When it pours in Florida it turns into a hurricane for sure.
seems like you are staying busy which is good! @kcates that is alot of construction work. hopefully you get it taken care of

Oh I get it. I also don't understand how there's all these contractors who do crap work and they are busy. I struggle to get a lot of work. I get enough to keep me going to work daily but it amazes me the quality I see out there then I do top quality and people tell me I am expensive. I had a lady call 2 day before Thanksgiving and wanted a faucet replacement done before I left out of town. I told her 200 to replace the faucet and it would be more if I had to replace the valves but would let her know about the valves bro
Fore I proceeded. She told me I was high. Oh well it cost a lot to just pull the diesel truck and 16 foot trailer out the driveway. I don't run a nonprofit. Lol

Actually I got some relief. My project starting Monday text me this morning,

Good morning!

I think we are going to hold off on fixing the balcony. We had the ducts replaced last week and it was $12000. What a mess. Chandler said to give him a couple months to recoup. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!!!

That actually helped me out. So stress down some now and only have to worry about 3 projects right. I have a project at a church going I am not on this week.

At what point is this fraud or grand larceny or something? That’s pretty egregious.

@kcates definitely a working man. I saw your podcast as well and it seems like you know your stuff with your hands.

he claimed the freon was leaking between the garage and the upstairs wall and he had to get into the wall to fix it. luckily i know an AC guy who would never cheat me and the guy came out and it was literally nothing. AC guys, auto mechanics and roofers are a bunch of cheats but they get away with it.

FL is known for shady contractors. they all move down here to scam old people out of money. there are zero consumer protections man, its not like other states up north. its considered 'business' down here. they don't have any problem ripping off old people.

i'm sure these people start out honest and really doing great work. but over time they get lazy and they end up scamming 1 person and get away with it, then it gets worse and worse. its just like shoplifting. you steal a candy bar and get away with it, then you move up to more expensive things as you get away with it each time and hope you don't get caught

i like those videos where they record contractors coming out to do a job who cheat people. one video they had 20 guys come out for a hot water heater that needed a tightened screw. only 2 of the 20 were honest. the other 18 either tried to charge $600 or wanted to replace the whole unit when all it needed was a tightened screw! the 2 dudes didn't even charge the old lady for the trip even when she offered. so there are SOME honest people out there

I am, and I have a high mechanical appitude which makes construction easy for me. I have a story about how I found out about my high mechanical appitude.back in 2015 Is when I tore my shoulder. I feel at my house taking the garbage out on a rain day. The doc told me after surgery I would never do construction again. I looked into other options for work for awhile before I knew he was full of it. I applied to maxwell house coffee to be a maintenance on there machines at the factory. Part of the process for the position is you have to go to the place where you take monitored testing and do a mechanical appitude test. I through that process I found out I score really high. The people at the test place told me I could apply to any place that uses that test. Then I made it down to the final 2 candidates for the job. The last interview they have a test machine. They give you 15 minutes to play with it and figure out how it works. They they have you leave the room and they mess the machine up. Then you come back and have 3 minutes to figure out what's wrong and fix it. There is 4 stages of this test. I passed all 4. The supervisor in the interview after the test kept asking me if I had worked in mechanical industry work before. I kept telling him no. He was amazed. In the end I did not get the job. The other candidate how years of work experience in the field and I had zero. Through that process I learned I have a high mechanical appitude which is really cool and worth going through the whole process even though I didn't get the job. Then it made since how I can figure out how to make things and fix things so easy.

that is why you should always get multiple quotes, check the BBB and reviews. You can also ask to speak with past customers that had similar work done. In the end you can charge what you want and what a customer decides to chose who they go with depends on them. I am not the highest guy for work but I am not the cheapest. I also bring great customer service and clean up daily of the jobsite including sweeping and mopping. My customers will pay higher to get the great customer service that I provided, trustworthiness, and know that I will warranty my work. Not the typical warranty of when you can't see my truck license plate any longer is when your warranty is over. Higher end clients appreciate that stuff and will pay more to be treated well like a VIP.

Maybe I think there is a lot of shitty people in the trades that just do shit stuff. That's just the kind of person they are. I will lose profit and take a loss to do things right even if I quoted the job wrong. Its not there fault you cant quote work right and you gave them a number that was agreed upon that was not profitable. You got to fulfill your obligation to the best of your ability and not cut corners. At least that is my philosophy and i just chaulk the losses up to a learning experience. People appreciate it and they know when things take way longer than expected. You do things right they will spread word of you. I have never advertised my business i have always worked on word of mouth. I continue to survive doing this even without selling drugs. lol

in the long run honesty is best. a lot of people out there treat their business like fly by night. and they wonder why they have no customers after a bit @kcates

What drives me crazy are the ones who do crap work and are always busy.
yeah they are either idiot sons of the original owner, or they bought the business from the previous guy. either situation they inherited a ton of customers and people like to stick with the people they used before

once i took a car to a mechanic who was exactly that. the idiot son of the owner and the idiot son now runs the place. complete imbecile. zero people skills. and no clue about cars. but the place stays busy cause the dad was such a great guy for years in town. i wonder where the loser would be if not for daddy's business.

THAT IS 100% GOOOO!!
How are you holing up? Finding even a scrap of time for yourself in there?
I was curious about the same thing
