What's androgel?

My dad has been prescribed this topical testosterone called androgel and I was just wondering what exactly it is? The active chemical it says on the back its Test USP. I'm new to this site so sorry for my ignorance.

Androgel is often used for TRT purposes instead of injections. It's very common nowadays, though I still prefer injections myself for a number of reasons

I agree with shrine. I was prescribed androgel for trt over a year ago. After reading about the potential sides for those that accidentally come in contact with it I immediately let my dr know I wanted something else. Having two young daughter's, I can't afford to take any chances of screwing up their hormones. He asked if I would have any issues pinning myself, of course I played dumb and asked him to show me how. From that point I have been pinning on my own for a year.

androlgel is HRT that has 100mg of transdermal testosterone which the body only absorbs 10% so that comes to 10mg a day if used daily so that comes out to 70mg a week, which for most men is weak I recommend 150mg for men who are on permanent HRT if the 70mg works for them then they should just stay on it, obviously no needles needed when you want to increase amount then you have to pin.
