just how beneficial is whole wheat bread. Are the carbohydrates really breaking down that much slower than white bread and by how much ? Twice as long or four times and long what are the benefits ?

Whole wheat bread is a much better option of the two but neither are good choices. Grain needs to be heavily processed in order to create bread. Eating the whole grain itself, such as oatmeal or brown rice, will provide much more nutrients and much slower glucose release into the blood stream.

What is also the most genetically modified grain you can purchase.

For carbohydrate sources I like brown rice, potato/sweet potato, oatmeal, quinoa, vegetables, fruit etc.

I prefer to buy whole wheat bread, as i read that it doesn't consist of fat, therefore you can eat it without gaining weight. I usually have a few toasts before running

Sincerely, I see bread in the diet just like the diet coke - there is no such thing as diet coke, and the only diet part about it is the name. The same thing goes with bread - no matter the kind of bread you choose, it will still hinder your diet, so it is better not to eat any sorts of bread at all.

this is just not true. any type of bread is an absolute killer on the waist. you aren't gaining cause you have it before running, but if you swapped out the bread for lets say a sweet potato instead, you would lean out much faster

Exactly^^^. There are much better alternatives.

I'm the wrong person to ask about this topic because the only thing I think of that goes with bread are cold cuts and that freaks me out. Meat in the shape of a square...ewwww.

There is always Ezekiel bread, which is what I feed my kids. It makes yummy french toast as well.

Wheat bread is better than white...........not by much. The only trade off you get from eating whole wheat is more fiber per slice. They have better bread options out there but the cost is not worth the minimal health benefits. Like The Rock says treat it as a dessert. If you need extra fiber eat leafy greens.
