Cycle One: Test E

Hi,

More details to come, but I wanted to start this now rather than procrastinate.

Intro:

I'm 46, live in New Zealand. Lifted seriously in my teens and 20s. Competed in a couple of bodybuilding shows. Took a break for a couple of decades (marriage, kids, career). Back into training last 6 years. I find recovery getting harder each year, have been dialing down my training intensity and volume to avoid injuries.

Love lifting heavy things and I want to keep that going. My training program is more powerlifting focused, 70's style with lots of accessories / bodybuilding work. I like to do some strongman lifts for fun. I'd like to be the strongest guy in the rest home one day, and what's cooler than a jacked grandpa?

I've been natural to this point. Over the past 3 years especially I can feel my test dropping. I tick all the boxes as a candidate for TRT, except for test levels. I'll post bloods soon, when I track down the results. My levels are not low enough for a clinical diagnosis, and with no previous bloodwork can't argue significant decline.

I'm preparing for a Test E cycle to see how my body responds.

Body:

Height: 5' 10" / 175cm
Weight: 108kg / 238lbs
%BF: ~21% skinfold, last scan 17% (carrying more fat than I'd like, probably cut some more before starting cycle).

Diet:

I'll post more details but typically 40/40/20 (%P/C/F). Although in practice I focus on 200-220g protein per day, and sufficient fats and then dial carbs up or down depending on what I'm trying to do.

Plenty of fresh food and vegetables, fiber and vitamin and mineral supplements.

I log my food intake in an app.

Training:

Will post more details if wanted, compound lifts (SBD) 3x per week, varied intensity. I add a couple of secondary SBD movements such as pause bench. And accessories. I lift 5 times per week on average.

Training blocks are wave progression, typically 16-18 weeks with a crude taper and 1RM test at the end.

Conditioning work Russian style kettlebell, cardio (walking) and some running / hill work / rucking.

My priority is strength work but I'm also training to get a good enough base fitness to do an ultra marathon (happy with the worst time).

All training is logged.

Planned Cycle:
Test E - 500mg / week (E3.5D) for 16 weeks.
Tempted to add 20-40mg Anavar weeks 1-4
AI to be determined, likely Arimidex.
PCT to be determined.

I'm still researching and planning. Not likely to push the limits very far in terms of cycles, a periodic nudge and perhaps 250mg Test E / week long term. Depending on bloods, response and I think I should cycle and do PCT the first time through at least.

An injectable and an oral. Perfect cycle.
I am a big fan of test and anavar.
Start the anavar in wk 4 and run the anavar 3 weeks past the last test injection and you are ready for pct

Consider this stack
13weeks
Week 1 to 10 test e
Week 4 to 13 anavar
Week 10 to 13 Proviron
Start to pct with full clearance

I learned an expensive lesson last year with a not-so-good supplier. Looks like I can have more faith in the NZ suppliers listed here.
welcome to the EVO family :D @oldmanlifts this is a good share but before we can help you please share some pics of you with your face blurred out we need to see your base and what we are working with :D

30mg Var or Tbol last 6 weeks
get some Reta in there to help drop the BF too

At 46 I would consider TRT as well

Thanks, I like the look of that cycle. One trick is finding a local supplier with the right stock.

Thanks for this, the only NZ trusted supplier on this forum with Var in stock shut down.

As for TRT, I've gone through screening and a couple of doctors here in NZ. Tick all the boxes except natural test level is a little too high. The TRT specialist said if I had earlier blood work showing a clear drop or downtrend he'd prescribe TRT but a point in time snapshot that's over clinical limit he can't help. The other doctor, second opinion, also said he couldn't prescribe TRT yet. Although mentioned that if I happened to go the DIY route and wanted to stop, then he could start treatment.

I think in the future, TRT barriers in New Zealand might come down a little.

On the other hand, my wife is going through perimenopause. And that seems like a much lower barrier. Short consult, no bloods and on HRT very quickly. I'm not saying that's wrong, perimenopause is an acute and dangerous phase. Although I'm still shocked that more than 6 months in still no bloods. Her dose has been doubled twice over that time, based on her symptoms. Seems strange to mess with hormones so much without looking at levels.
 
Still to add pictures and flesh out details in this log. In the meantime prep and planning continues.

Have ordered Test E from AuStarLabs NZ. Will be happy when they get some other things in stock. In the meantime I'll plan on building my supply of Test.

Also, everything needed to pin has arrived thanks to our great Needle Exchange program.
 
I would look at self administered trt+ man.

250-350mg test e
20mg provirion daily
3.33iu hgh - 5iu hgh daily
And some Reta

Blood work dependant of course but you could run that year round

Start on 300 man 3x 100mg injections a week (0.4ml/40units on an insulin syringe)

You can always adjust up or down easy

But I would also look at the hgh and proviron to be added into it.

Running what I've suggested is more hormone optimisation then trt, it's what "influencers" do when they say they are running trt

Yeah, influencer "TRT". I'll see if I can source hgh, proviron (and maybe reta).
 
Thanks, pics to come. This is a slow burn project right now, will get this stuff sorted so I can leverage the knowledge here.

Still to add pictures and flesh out details in this log. In the meantime prep and planning continues.

I hear you, although it'll take me more than 1 min to find, buy or borrow something with a camera. From that point it is quick and easy:) I could ask my wife to take a photo but she'd assume I have lost my mind wanting my picture taken. That conversation will also take longer than 1 min, I've refused all photos since the early 2000's.

Realistically, pics will be a couple of weeks. But I promise to all, it will be done.

Perhaps I started this thread prematurely, I just didn't want to forget.

You've got a smart phone just go in the bathroom and take one in the mirror

how about a simple mirror shot with your phone? you can easily take it in the mirror and blur our your face on the phone easy like 1 min @oldmanlifts i assume you own a phone :D
